A few months ago my TSU9600 started having problems sending IR signals to my Scientific Atlanta VIP622 VCR (DISH box). Specifically any set of actions that sends multiple function commands to the VIP622 won't work. For example, I use the channel icons to get to HBO which requires me to send channel 300 as several commands, 3 + delay (.5) + 0 + delay (.5) + 0 + enter. It used to work fine but all of the sudden one day it stopped working for this device only. I can send multiple commands to my receiver, Blu-Ray etc. without any problem. What's strange is that I can send single commands to the VIP622 just fine. For example, I can get to HBO by pushing the 3 key followed by the 0 key twice and then the enter key.

I've deleted and recoded all the remote keys but the same problem occurs. If anyone has any ideas of has had the same problem I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

mmajerczyk,

I had a similar experience with another DirecTV box. A program that had been working for years suddenly got into trouble. In my case I changed to RS232. Now, I have much better control over the box's operation. It is some trouble to convert to RS232. I'm not familiar with your box, I don't know if RS232 is an option.

You can probably work out of this mess by increasing the command duration in myDataBase. In my case inserting a (long) pause between digits was very helpful, but the pause needed to be about 0.75 seconds. With such long pauses between digits, plus the time required for the box to sync with the new channel, channel surfing felt more like turtle racing.

Thanks Buzz. I did change the default pause in MyDatabase for each of the remote keys to .50 seconds and all is well. I'm not totally convinced that's what did the trick but it's working now so I'm happy and most of all... my wife's happy (as are the grandkids).
