P.P.S.: Works on pages only (not on the activity level), but I'm quite sure it could be modified in a way you don't need the code on each page.

It only works at page level because the "real" widget collection for a page is made available just prior to running the page script.

IMO, this is a whole that will likely be plugged in the future so don't expect that it will continue to work. Backlight, IMO, should be used for backlight.

Yes but as Lowpro stated it's another hardbutton that could be used for something else. I'd rather have a standard hardkes, that a button for setting the brightness. Ok if the panels had 10 levels of backlight would be better but. Use it at 4 and it heavily drains the batteries, anything less than 2 is practically unusable (especially in everyday use, not just for movie watching), 2 is somehod useful, 3 is my preferred.

So please, whoever listens, just leave it "broken" ;).

Press and hold the backlight button and then use Page+/- to adjust the brightness. It is that simple.

To resurrect an old thread, I have never used my backlight hard button. Not once. Would love to program it to take me to my lighting page, but it's escaping how I would do this as is stated can be done in this thread. I'm using a much earlier version of the remote firmware as well in the event the devs did plug the hold as it were. I understand the script would have to reside on a page and not at the activity level. It's just escaping me how to accomplish this.

See last post on the first page of this thread.

Note that you have to be using a version of the firmware that supports definition of the 'onPress' function for a button which means no PEP1 firmware 7.1.21/22.

From the 1.4.3 Dev Guide

A.15.1.14. widget.onPress
(available since application version 7.2.7)
Purpose
Define the function to be executed at the next button press.
Read/Write : RW
Value : onPressCallback
A valid function, or null if no button press behavior is desired.

Well I'm married to PEP1 firmware 7.1.21/22, so it's not even worth messing around with. I have access to my Lighting activity consistently throughout my XCF file as it is. I just thought it would be nice to finally use the "Backlight" hard button for something. Thanks for chiming in Lyndel. Appreciate it.
