I am trying to set up my TSU3000 and RFX9400 on a network. I have been successfully using my remote setup for quite some time in stand alone mode.
I am now adding a PC to my home theatre and am trying to set up Microsoft Media Centre using PadOne. This requires the switch to network mode. Right?

The current network consists of 3 computers: 2 iMac's and one PC running Windows 7 Ultimate. This will be used for the Media Centre.

Internet is provided through a broadband cable modem to a D-Link DIR300 wireless router. The iMac's connect to the router with ethernet. The Media PC connects wirelessly via a Netgear Wireless-N150 USB adapter (WNA1100). This network is working fine.

The TSU firmware is the latest - V7.2.22
The RFX firmware is the latest - 1.4.7
The PEP Software is 2.4.23.0

With the current setup I have the control panel says "command failed" when I presss a button on the menu and the diagnostic log says "0450 Extender 192.168.0.107 didn't reply".

Current setup:

DIR300 Router setting:
IP 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
DHCP range: 192.168.0.100 to 199
Broadcast mode set to g only.

Control Panel in PEP:
SSID RRM
WEP64 (corresponds to router setting)
PassPhase: *****
Fixed IP 192.168.0.110
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS 192.168.0.1

Extender in PEP:
Extender 0
Fixed IP 192.168.0.107

Extender Configuration:
Configured using the Pronto supplied cable to one of the iMacs which also runs Win 7. I was unable to configure the RFX to the router with a straight ethernet cable. The extender discovery function returned no result.

WiFi SSID RRM
Encryption: WEP64
PassPhase: *****
Fixed IP Address: 192.168.0.107
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

I hope someone can help me get connected!
Best regards ... Ronnie.

ronniem,

Don't set a fixed IP address inside of the DHCP range. The DHCP server assumes that it "owns" all of the addresses inside the range -- you are risking duplicate IP addresses.

Some users report the "b" only is a better choice.

I thought it was G-Only that was the better choice. I use Fixed IPs for RFX and DHCP on Prontos. I also don't have my fixed IP addresses assigned inside the DHCP range to prevent duplicate IP addresses.

I presume you have also seen this thread?

[Link: remotecentral.com]

Do you have latest firmware on your router?
Can you make all this work if you disable WEP?

Does it work properly if you reconfigure RFX to not be inside DHCP IP address range on the router?

Does it work with WEP if you use Hex Key vs Passphrase?

For me, Extender Discovery only works as follows:
1. PC is wired to Router.
2. RFX is wired to Router.
3. PC is running Extender Discovery
4. Switch on RFX switched from Position 1 to Position 3.
5. After about 30 seconds, Extender Discovery sees the RFX.

I've been through this a few times. I think that there are some undocumented timeouts. If the RFX or ProntoEdit are sitting too long without discovery, they will not connect. I make a point of starting discovery in ProntoEdit and promptly switching the RFX to configuration mode.
