I have posted on my web site two new items for download. One is an update to the Documentation on my Home Theater for those who have an interest.

The second is a complete test and demo program for controlling the Sony BDP-CX7000ES BluRay mega changer over IP. I have not started the Pronto code to do it because I no longer use that changer in my theater and have it for sale. However if there is a demand I will probably look into it.

The latest version of the Pronto firmware has all that is needed including multicast UDP so that discovery can be implemented. I absolutely believe it is possible to fully control the mega changer directly from a Pronto Pro with no IR or RS232 being needed.

Depending on my schedule I am thinking of writing a complete system which would include a librarian (Which is basically done, but requires "Helper application", as a server on a PC) , Control for three players; the Sony BDP-CX7000ES, The Dune Base 3.0, and the XBMC all over IP with no IR or RS232 involved which translates to no extenders. I have all the code to do this running in my theater but on a PC and just need to port it to the Pronto.

The XBMC has an excellent librarian (Media Jukebox) so that one could be used or the XBMC could be used as just a player never seeing its screens.

On the XBMC platform I have Power down and WOL all operating over IP. Since I use the unraid NAS I will probably add to the mix control of the NAS to some degree although that is not strictly necessary except for disk spin-up and spin down for power considerations.

I need to understand the possible audience before I devote significant tome to doing this, as it will take a couple of months.

You all know how to reach me. My profile contains that info who don't. Then again just post on this thread

I'm not very familiar with how things work just yet as I don't even have my 9600 yet; however, I do plan on acquiring a blu-ray megachanger at some point in the future (maybe yours depending on the price ;)

Anyway, could I implement the use of my own screens and blu-ray cover images into the program? I put a significant amount of work into my NG program implementing custom screens and text, so I would be extremely interested if I could salvage that work. I apologize if that is a silly question but like I said, I'm very new to this.

Don't get me wrong. I have not done anything yet for the 7000ES for the Pronto. I just wrote a PC based system as a proof of concept (I code and debug much faster on a PC). The answer to your question however is yes. The basic IP interface is independent of the "Skin". The 7000 changer has a built in library which is really not very exciting. I have a librarian that I have released for the Pronto that is actually player independent as most movie librarians are.

You could keep the two activities; the librarian whose job is it is to come up with a changer slot number; and the changer control activity whose job is to take the slot number, start that disk playing and provide transport control.

That is exactly the way my Home theater system works but has a PC in the loop instead of extenders.

Do you have your blu-ray changer posted in the marketplace on this site?

No I do not. I did not believe there were too many parties interested in that changer at remote Central. If you are interested send me a PM
