I normally don't work with the Pronto line or specifically the TSU9600, but I have a request for some work on one. While I do think the remote is pretty nice I am kind of learning it all on the fly and want to make sure things are going okay. When I learn a code in, I am generating codes that begin typically with 'FFFF' - is that okay? I tried a couple and it seemed to work, but does anyone know why they generate as such? Also, where is the best spot to hit the IR with on the remote when you are learning?

Thanks guys,
Vincent

Best spot is the little bump on the lower left corner of the remote as far as the FFFF I have never seen that I know on most of my codes that are learned that they start with 0000

The best spot for learning to the TSU9600 is the little bump on the lower left corner of the remote. I concur! Perfect placement really. Works out very well while the remote is docked. I can just set a given remote down on the table to the left of my keyboard facing the lower left corner of the remote while it's docked and learn away.

I've seen the same thing during my attempts at entering new codes. I believe the 'FFFF' signifies the SUPER HEX format for the code, which takes much more memory and may not be necessary...

I've had good luck with lining-up the remotes as the others suggested, leaving about 4-8 inches between them and giving a very quick press of the button being recorded. I've been able to have the remote re-learn all the codes that began with 'FFFF' with only a couple of tries and end-up with something that began with '0000' instead (this was for a D-Link DSM-520).

I hope this helps (and is correct ;-)
