In a project where I thought I had TSU9600 with router communication issues, it might have been the RFX9600 at fault all along.

I have TSU9600 (7.2.22) communicate with RFX9600 (1.4.5) and when sending simple 1 or 2 step command to the RFX9600, the function seems to execute fine once, but if I try to press the same function the second time within 1-2 seconds, the Busy light comes on (no function is sent or seen from RFX9600 to device), and stays on for 20-25seconds.
During that time, no other functions can be sent to RFX9600.

BTW, the are no ProntoScripts or 2 way communication being utilized on this project.

Anyone had this issue, and knows how to handle it?

Mario

If this can be reproduced at will, I'm sure Belgium would like to see it. If you have a small configuration that exhibits the behavior, send it to them.

Also, what type of commands? Are you using Power Sense on the extender to avoid sending 232 or IR? Belgium for sure will need a bit more information.

Well, I have done some more testing at my house.
I have TSU9600 connecting to RFX9600 via WAP.
RFX9600 is in DHCP.
TSU9600 is fixed IP.
Network is set to 24hours.
Using WEP64.
Fixed, single channel wireless settings.
All I have programmed in the controller are DirecTV (RS), Denon AVR(RS), and HTPC (IR). No ProntoScript, or 2-way communication at all.
Just like in the house I referenced above, I see that I can issue one command just fine, and when trying to issue second command, the function does not go thru and the busy light stays lit on the RFX9600 for some time.
I have all the latest firmware on both TSU & RFX.

I do have another RFX9600 NIB that I can try to test.
I can also disconnect the WAP from the rest of the network, to make sure its not a network issue.
It seems wiered that two different instalations, using different network hardware, would exibit behavior. (Although both houses use D-Link products. Mine is DIR-655, and client's is DIR-625).

In both cases, the network icon on TSU9600 goes from showing good connection, to dropping it and showing 'connecting' when the RFX9600 is showing busy signal.

I'm wondering how many "network connection" issues that many are reporting, are actually RFX9600 not responding/freezing when it's stuck in busy state?

Hi Mario

I have tried your file you sent me the only changes i made were the Wifi channel set to "Default" and i putin my own SSID and wep 64 Key.
I have no failures at all in almost 100 key presses.

May be you do have a Dlink issue :)

Just a thourght, have you turned your WIFI network to G only?

Did you experience any issues before you made the changes?
I'm hoping that we can replicate the issue, so I know what actually fixes it.

I've had many difficulties with the DIR-655. Its firmware has had some unstable versions. Just switched to a Linksys WRT400N and my setup has been much more stable.

Today I have encountered similar problems. For now it happens only on with the IR codes.

What is happening is this.
In a normal IR send, the busy LED on the RFX turns on a little before than the apropriate IR LED. This is normal operation.

Sometimes when I hit a random button with IR attached to it, all the RFX does is turn on the busy LED (no code is sent). The LED turns off after some time. The diagnostics.log registers a :
0450 Extender _IP_ didn't reply.

The XCF I use is an xcf I've used many times with the same settings. Also same router/access point, and a TSU9800, all the same as always. The only thing I can think is different is the bacth of the RFX9600 (it's a newer one). Something somewhere in he production went wrong?

EDIT: Please follow this thread: www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/prontopro/thread.cgi as it seems that the problems are linked.

Set a fixed IP address on the RFX9600 extender and give it a go. Once you do this, you do NOT have to set fixed ip in PEPv2.

Honestly, verify that you are running latest firmware on DLink. If possible, switch out to a WAP54G or other G-capable access point. I've had great luck with my Linksys ones.
