is it possible to use another brand of rf extender other than the pronto rfx 9400 with the pronto tsu 9400.

No not easerly, but you could use TCP/IP converters and write a pronto script.

e.g IP to RS232,
Pronto still one of the best Wi-Fi Remotes,

Global Cache and Barry Gordon's Pronto PAL would work but would require integration and likely some scripting.
