Don't know if there is an actual specifiction for maxium IR wire run. I can tell you from experience what I have done. I extended a IR flasher from my basement (rack location) to a desktop USB ir receiver in my office on the second floor. I would guess the distance to be around 100 feet. I spliced the flasher to 22 gauge 2 conductor alarm type wire. Easy to fish. Never had an issue. Just make sure the IR sensitivity switch for whichever IR port you are using on the back of the RFX9600 is set to high not low. And when you splice the IR flasher you get the polarity correct.

I've made runs over 100' , how far do you NEED it to be?

Thanks for your answers. I will probably not have to go any longer than 50-60' so +100' is more than enough.

I've tested the length of 14.5m of ethernet CAT3 cable with RFX9400 and works fine.

There is one thing, the IR emiters on cable supplied with extender are connected serially, so if you extend for 5m both emiters then the total length is 10m plus 2.5m of original cable.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Milan,

Build an extension cable with 2 connectors (1 pair of CAT5) and put a Mono jack on one end into which you plug the emitter and a mono plug on the other end. That way, the extension length is not doubled.

If you do it this way, you will not incur the doubled length you mention.
