I cannot connect a TSU9600 (latest firmware) to ProntoEdit 2.4.18 on Win7 - I get Error C5, HID Not Found. It does show up in the Win7 device manager though. I have reviewed all the issues about connecting TSU9600s with Win7 PCs and have tried all the rebooting and disconnecting other devices. Any other things I can try?

Andy.

I get this error from time to time on XP also.

YOu can try to reboot the remote control panel. Works for me. Or maybe the usb port you're using is gone, try another one or make sure first that the used port is working.

Tried both of those, and reflashed the firmware, changed the cable, turned off virus scanner etc. I'll keep trying.

Try it on a different PC, without any other wireless devices attached to that PC.

If it works, then the problem is (most likely) the usual wireless device conflict or (less likely) broken usb ports.

If it doesn't work, then the problem is (most likely) a broken cable or (less likely) a broken Pronto.

I don't see why old firmware or active virus scanners would give that error message - it is effectively a hardware error message.

Ok, I've run across this problem in the past. Usually this will fix it. Go into your device manager and open up the HID group. Look for something called Microsoft ehome Infrared Transceiver. Right click on it and uninstall it.

I haven't found a way to keep it from reinstalling itself after reboot or doing a scan for hardware changes in the device manager.

Hope that helps you.

vrman,

If you disable it rather than uninstall it, that should survive a reboot. Also, my experience is that these things often carry on working even if the HID thing is disabled.

I had the same issue after recently going to Win 7 64 Ultimate. I uninstalled the Microsoft eHome Infrared Receiver from the Device Manager and then the download worked.

I have exactly the same problem. While my device manager lists a lot of HID devices, I do not seem to have the MS eHome driver installed.

After plugging the device into my computer, I can definitely see that the device driver for the 9600 loaded. I can see a Pronto device in the Devices and Printers. I even see the 9600 as a disk drive in the device manager (albeit without media), but I cannot see the device as a separate drive when I look at my files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Through trial and error, I finally figured out the conflicting HID devices...features of my Logitech keyboard.

I basically have 2 choices: either I disable around 8 HID devices and reset the pronto, or I install the MS Virtual XP, install PEP inside and make USB devices available to XP. This is a bit of a pain as it generally requires me to restart my system before downloading to the device.

I would love to find a way to do this natively in my Windows installation without having to either disable features on my Logitech keyboard or running it in XP.

I have a Logitech G15 wired keyboard that includes a small display. When I disable the HIDs, the display stops working. I have found that if I disable the HIDs and reset the 9600, I am able to download. I then re-enable the HIDs and all is fine. As long as I do not reboot, everything seems to work just fine.

This is the first time I have ever faced any conflict in devices...the issue should really be fixed.

Hi All

I have the same issue. Logitech DiNovo.

Removing the Logitech USB Dongle does fix the problem.

You then have to get a wired keyboard to actually type !!!

If you are a casual user you could probably put up with this.....

But if you are a developer it is extremely painful procedure, as sometimes you also need to reboot.

(E.G. if you are testing a protected library, your pronto needs to be connected to protect it).

Would be great to have this fixed. USB is not exactly new.

Is the pronto team looking into this?

There have been many posts by many users and they are aware of the problem.

Cheers

Dominic

I just plugged my TSU9600 in to my newly installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and got this same error.

For me it was my Logitech G19 that conflicted. The G19 uses many HID's but I only had to deactivate one of them, which seems to control the volume only. not having the keyboard volume control while working with the remote is something I can live with since all the other keys are working.

But, what happens if it was the mouse that conflicts?

It's late 2018...and my Pronto is still running (so happy). Anyway, I ran into this problem for my first time ever last night. I tried reading multiple threads on what to do and it still came up with the error. I found a combination of actions work:

* Unplug as many USB devices that you can. The HID devices in Device Manager will disappear!
* Plug in a wired mouse (only)
* Turn OFF your pronto remote, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on (using the switch on the upper left side). Essentially reboot it.

That worked for me every time. Just thought I would throw this message out there to help any last survivors of Philips Pronto products (that I really wish they didn't stop producing).

I recently upgraded to Win7 32bit and with PEP2, I sometimes get stuck downloads (at the end of the download, the time/date is transferred from the PC). Removing the remote from the dock and reinserting it will usually clear the error.

If you are consistently getting the HID error and don't want to power off/on, try a 3 key reboot.

Essentially press and hold all 3 of these together.
