Is this a rhetorical question? How would you expect to
get a scripting engine on the remote WITHOUT changing
the firmware?

Oops! I should probably take a nap after coming back from work before writing questions like these. I guess I wasn't thinking. I'm a newbie as you can now see.

Since it is now official news and it's on the Pronto web site (with screen shots and all), should we expect this to be released in the next few weeks? (they did say July)
I'm really looking forward to this (like most people here I'm sure).
Thanks Lyndel.

I would not say end of this week. If they said July, It will be July. I just don't know when. Like Daniel says, it will be extremely helpful to have a library of scripts per se to help folks along.

A library of scripts would be nice indeed.
Thanks Lyndel.

I've requested jogwheel programming ability as well but
highly suspect we will not have this in the next firware
release.

A 640x480 screen will not work that well for a Web Browser
so I would not expect that as a first cut of ProntoScript.

Timers as you knew them in the past will likely never
exist again.

I used to have a 1st generation Pronto, which has timer functionality, it was great to swtitch on lights, etc at certain times. At the moment it not possible in the TSU 9600, but it has a clock and calender on board,... It would be very stupid just to use it to display the time and date on top of each screen. I'm still hoping for the timer-functionality.

OK, limited screen resolution can indeed be a problem to use the remote as a browser,
But other brands can do it,...
And what about EPG?

But the ability to use wap sites would be nice. Like the one generated by say a reQuest, squeezebox, etc.
