I have a link to the Pioneer PRO-FHD1 RS232 control page. The documentation is for the Crestron. It really doesn't fit the Pronto Pro, cause it mixes hex and ASCII.
Has anyone had success controlling this plasma TV with the Pronto Pro.

I have worked out codes for Lexicon and JVC TV's, but am really a newbie.

Here is a link to the pioneer custom install page

Thanks in advance. I have searched remotecentral, but found nothing pertinent to the Pronto.

It works just fine. There is a button you can click when entering the RS232 string in PEP that inserts various "special" characters. One of these choices is \ to allow hex. So, for example, a power on string would end up looking like this:

\02**PON\03

The real problem is that the Pioneer RS232 doc seems incomplete. One would assume that there is a command to switch back to the last ANT from another input (especially since that functionality is available via SR+), but none is listed (and INPS00 doesn't do anything). There appear to be several undocumented commands. For example MSTS02 thru MSTS07 are not listed, but do work (at least on a PDP6070).

I hope this helps...

Thanks Mark

That is exactly the information I needed. So you just "escape" the hex code with the backslash, sort of like \r is for Carriage Return.

That probably made my buying decision on the Pioneer much easier.

Again thanks for the great information

A follow up response. I finally got my Pioneer Elite Pro HD1 installed with the RFX9600
The codes as shown above for serial communication- \02**PON\03 does not work.
In the documentation they show an example for the Crestron as \x02**PON\x03
That does work. Also make sure and read the documentation and make sure the Plasma TV is set to work with RS232. The directions are in the Pioneer RS232 manual

Gary

the trick is \x02 as the start and \x03 as the end of text.
