Script will likely NEVER be enabled on the 9300. I also doubt that the higher frequency option will be added as well.

The TSU9300 is a step up from the 9200 in that you can use the Pro Extenders. It is in no shape or form, a replacement for the higher-end pro models like 9400, 9500, 9600, or 9800.

There has been an idea of an prontoscript update from the Prontoteam. It was something they've been considering, but they didn't know for sure, besides that they didn't know how to offer the upgrade.

From the available HW specs (CPU, memory, radio, etc., even the battery capacity) it looks like 9300 is exactly the same as the 9400 (except the form-factor/shape and the size, but not resolution, of the screen). Provided, of course, that I am not missing anything obvious. Sure, it also could be that the IR receiver's sensor/circuit cannot handle higher frequencies, but based on the above, from the pure programmability/radio connectivity, there is no apparent reason why 9300 cannot do ProntoScript. There could be marketing/business considerations for that of course, but technical I see none.

Regardless, for my particular usage, I could easily go without ProntoScript... but what I would really want instead, is the Telnet-like over TCP/IP option to control networked equipment. I personally find it odd that in order to control a networked device from another (otherwise almost perfect) networked device, I have to use an extender and then serial and/or serial to network adapter, basically for no good reason at all.

I can also somewhat understand why they might be reluctant to provide this kind of control option for an arbitrary networked device, but why there is no way to control a Media Center PC over a network, and I don't just mean the special case music server like hard-coded media activity, for simple general purpose navigation so that I can not only listen to the music, but also can watch TV, movies, schedule recording, etc. without having to use the IR or an extender with serial?

I just don't get it.

I have a 9600, a 9400 and a 9300 and I really like them all. We use the 9300 in the kids tv room and they like that one better than the 9400.
If scripts where enabled in 9300 it would be a lot easeir to control lights, drapes, projektor screen and so on.
So I really hope Philips will come to there sense and enable scripts in the 9300.

Lyndel, out of curiosity, the 9500 in your post is a typo?

tengizk, it's not tha the 9300 is not capable of running PS it's more like it's not meant to. If they enable PS on 9300, the 9400 will become a virtually dead product.

BluPhenix, I understand the "better 9300 might hurt 9400 sales" argument, but it does not necessarily mean that it would hurt the overall Pronto business more than crippling the 9300 already does. I personally wouldn't mind paying the 9400 price for fully functional 9300 - I don't need bigger screen, but I do like the size/shape and layout of 9300 better.

The TSW9500 is the new in-wall panel just debuted at CEDIA which will be supported via PEP v3. It is a QVGA (320x240) panel and has full ProntoScript capability. PEP v3 will allow for simply downloading a TSU9600/TSU9800 configuration file to the TSW9500 without any additional work required as there is an automatic VGA to QVGA conversion process. Any hard buttons not offered by the TSW9500 will still be available via slide out panels on-screen.

I got a reply from prontoteam that they are considering prontoscript in TSU-9300. Has anyone else been in contact with them?

Yes I noticed my flop pretty soon, but decided to do nothing about it, because I felt ashamed I forgot such a thing :). Actually it was debuted some months ago at a Show.

It is being considered but it will likely not be the "full" capability that is available on the other control panels.

I can comment no further on this subject at this time so please do not ask; either publicly or privately.

Well it would be sad if they do some limited version on prontoscript, then whats the point? What ever they do I hope that they include a way to control KNX systems.

In all fairness, based on your post, I also contacted a couple of individuals to get clarity on the situation. I have an NDA in place with Philips as I am a past and possibly future beta tester. Therefore, I cannot comment further.

As you are quoting me, I presume you are asking me a question (or maybe it is hypothetical), which I respectfully requested not be done.

Lyndel, I respect your NDA, so this was not a question for you. This was hypothetical (or a question for anyone who knows and are able to answer).

Thank you. I still contend that my original position that opening up full scripting would likely put an end to the 9400 as I too, like the feel/size of the 9300 compared to the 9400.

I prefer the TSU9400 screen.
