I'm trying to have control over a DirectTV HR20-700 satellite receiver and everything is working great, except for one thing- channel macros don't work! I learned all the codes from the same remote, and every individual IR code works. It's when I start to enter multiple links to these codes in a button that I have absolutely no response from the box. I built separate pages, one with a keypad and one with channel icons. The keypad works fine but no response from the channel macro.

My troubleshooting: I put a new button on the channels page with only one link command and it works. I've built and tested another satellite receiver (different model number) with the same structure and it works. I've tried copying the pages over into a new configuration- doesn't work.

It all boils down to the macro not setting off when it has more than one command in it (even if the 2nd command is a delay). I'm completely stumped. Has anyone else heard of this?

Do you have delays between the channel #'s? Are you trying to use ; ie: 007 with delays in between? Multiple digits may be required.

Other possibility is to re-flash the firmware in the pronto and then try the macros again.

Make sure the macro page is not RF-enabled, unless you are using RF? If using RF the IR codes page must be within the device, not as a separate Device.

I've had this problem a couple of times, and it seems to be related to the learned code. Codes learned on the 9600 wouldn't always work in a macro. Try downloading the codes from the 7000 library, or try to learn with a 7000 or 3000 series Pronto. This worked for me. Drove me nuts until I substituted the codes.

I've also used the database codes for the R15 and have a .5 delay between each press, the H20 codes also work for me

Hi,

Have just hit the same problem!

Where can I find the 7000 library?

Regards

To use the TSU7x00's IR code database with your TSU9600 you'll need to download the latest version of PPENG (the editor for the TSU7x00) from the files section here at the site, install the editor, and follow the additional steps below.

Once you have PPENG installed on your computer...
1) Create a new file.
2) Add a new page.
3) Add a new button on said page for each of the IR codes you need labeling each button accordingly.
4) Go to the action list of each button adding the appropriate IR code to each from the IR code database.
5) Save the PCF file.
6) Import the PCF into the editor for the TSU9600, PEP.

Savant, I've had a similar problem since my very first days with the TSU-9600:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

It seems macros don't always work when making reference to codes sitting in other screens/pages. I ended up copying codes in various areas instead of using references to codes sitting elsewhere in the remote (which, to me defeats the purpose for macros that are normally "transportable" anywhere and that's not counting that having codes copied all over the place is pretty dumb because any change in code will require multiple location edits).

Hopefully, this is going to get fixed soon. My older RC5200 did not even have that problem! Go figure.

Considering the fact that I've never included an actual learned IR code or database code directly in a macro I do find your issue strange. In the past several years I've done my share of programming for the TSU3x00, TSU7x00, and now TSU9600 and have always kept each IR codeset under its own dedicated device for reference throughout the rest of the configuration file. In fact, my configuration files include a device which bridges the IR code devices with the rest of the devices in the configuration file. This adds an additional reference for each link in my macros where a given GUI button makes links to buttons in another device. The buttons in that other device in turn link to the actual IR code buttons found in one or more of my dedicated IR code devices. For things like my DVD Juke device references are taken to the extreme where each link in the initial macro to load a given disc slot branch off making multiple references on down the line under the same device and across multiple devices some of which finally reach the IR code buttons themselves. All that and to date I've had no problems with macros executing as they should in the files I've worked on for myself and for others. Sure there is the rare occasion where a macro does not work initially, but said problem has never been resolved by inserting the actual IR codes into the macro directly versus linking to them. When I do have a problem with a macro the failure is the result of the IR code being used, the physical setup, or the device itself I'm trying to control. In the case of the code itself I've either had to use a different version of the same code, adjust the minimum IR duration of the code, or add/adjust delay actions. Like I said, you certainly do have a strange macro issue on your hands. Coming from my experience to date it seems very strange.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had this issue. Specifically, I cannot get my reciever (B&K Reference 50- actually a pre-amplifer, but that's another story) to switch inputs when using the macro's. When I do the "Test IR" button, everything works fine, but inserted into the macro, it doesn't go. I also have this problem with my projector, and both of these componets are using "learned" codes. Strange.
Those of you who have experience this problem, please let me know if the suggested "fixes" worked for you. Thanks

I took the advice of learning in IR with an older Pronto 3000 which worked like a charm. I think it's how the 9600 converts into 'Pronto friendly' codes which makes the hex turn blue (I think that's why it does that anyway). I believe I also kept learning in with the 9600 until I found hex that didn't turn blue and it worked.
