Hi Poojoe,

I recently purchased a copy of your script and have it running on a 9800. I am not an installer, although I have configured all my Prontos by myself. The reason I mention this is so that you know I am giving feedback from the perspective of the end-user and "installer" all at the same time...

General feedback:
- Installation was easy and straight-forward, especially seeing that I already had my Itunes library set up, no seperate servers (twonky, Logitech, etc) to set up.
- It works great, certainly better than some other media interface scripts that I have tried and it lets me interct with my media in the wayy that I am used to viewing it in Itunes - there is no new phylosophy to understand / learn so my wife Gets it!
- It is the answer to SOME of my multimedia control issues, but could nbe all I think (more below)
- The support so far has been efficient and friendly.

Concerns / Suggestions:
1. Can you send an email updating users of the latest releases when they are available?
2. The pronto sometimes gets "bogged-down" and stops responding to input commands when this script is running, only to sort itself out and then continues to work after 15 or so seconds.
3. You currently, as far as I understand, only support the control of media that is stored on the AppleTV itself. Now if the user uses the AppleTV only as a streamer this application is useless. In my case I have a seperate NAS Server that I use to store my (large) media library containing all my DVD's, music in lossless format and my entire iPhoto Library. This media is unable to fit entirely onto the AppleTV HDD. For my personal purposes then it needs further enhancement to fit in with my architecture (or any fairly large library)...
4. No support for iPhoto is a pity, although you can navigate most other media (Movies, Music, Podcasts, etc)

The ability to view / hear all "Mac Media" in "high" quality on my Home cinema screen with an easy to use interface is why I decided to get an AppleTV - it unites everything better than most expensive AV Servers (IMO).

If your software evolves to the point where it can control the ATV functionality (taking into consideration the above points) and show what is happening on the Pronto Screen, you are really putting a lot of other high-end systems to shame in my view. Well done in this case...

Regards

Hi Leon,

Nice to hear a response from a end-user here :)

Although I must dissapoint you, AppleTV don't support streaming from iTunes ..
I think because it is to complicated for some people to make a line between local (appletv) and remote (iTunes lib.)

Support for iPhoto would be great indeed..
But that also would be for e.g. Youtube, so you could use the pronto keybord to search..

( Or maybe an option to reveal the keybord at any time? )

I have seen pots that there is no support of OSD over IP does tat mean that the apple tv menu that appears on a display (such as a TV) cannot be changed when using IP? Or does this men thee is no support for control over IP at all?

I have control for the ATV setup elsewhere in my Pronto so if it seams that two activities (one when using the tv display and one for the handheld display) would work

Please Clarify.

Thanks in advance
Ryan
I know enough to make things work some of the time.

Hi Ryan,

it has no support for taking over the IR codes from the remote.
So the on - screen osd is controlled trough IR. Has to do with gestures the use since the 3.0 update. Seems te be hard te re-engineer the control code's. I believe they work hard ;)

Altough they control the apple tv over ip. Search browse music or movies, coverart, great!

Hi there!

Yes, we are working hard and there will be a release soon which enables OSD control via IP! If Apple was a little more cooprative we would be WAY further - but they are not! What a pitty!

We will also start a changelog as of update 2.0...

Keep it rocking!

Hi wall-e,

I cannot agree with your statement above. I run my AppleTV in streaming mode permanently, without any data on it's hard drive at all. It connects to my Itunes library and simply streams from there.
If my Imac is down, it has nothing to play (which is obviously one of the drawbacks running it in this way, but I have decided that it is a non-issue for me...).

Regards

Leon

FULL IP CONTROL OF EVERYTHING!

Finally it's here! Thanks for the patience...

And we offer a changelog this time as well!

Check out our updated script which now supports OSD navigation and complete browsing via IP - NO MORE IR NEEDED!!

The OSD control via IP is only active when in the "Now Playing" activity - in the "Browse" activity only "Menu" works as the Apple "Menu" key, rotary and tracking is used for navigation within the pronto menu!

Keep it rocking!

Hi cweb!

If we had 10+ people interested and willing to purchase a 9400 version, we'd push this! Otherwise, this is a "spare time" option...

Sorry, but apparently not a lot of folks w/ a 9400 and ATV out there:(

Keep it rocking!
