I am having some intermittent issues with wifi connections to a RFX9600.

The TSU9600 seems to lose it's wifi capabilities sometimes. You look at it and the network icon is gone. It never comes back by itself. I get the "Command failed" message when I push any commands.
If I shut down the remote and then turn it back on (using the power switch under the unit) the Wifi gets back online. It's very annoying, especially when the power switch requires something small and sharp to flip it.

I can't seem to pinpoint when I lose the connection. I suspect a power surge or glitch which would disrupt the wifi router. But even in this case, the TSU9600 should try to re-establish its "connection", which it does not seem to do.

Any one else has seen this problem?

Thanks

I just had this problem yesterday. Not sure what happened. I was just using it, put it down for a few minutes then tried using it and the wifi icon disappeared. BTW you can use the stylus to turn it off and on, or you can hold down the menu, home and page up button.

could this be a wifi router issue? What make and model of router are you using? Firmware up to date?
May the pronto be with you

I tried two different routers -

One is a DI-624 and the other one is DIR-625 (both D-Link)

Same behaviour on both.

- I forgot about the stylus - I never needed it - good idea to reset though.

Linksys WRT54G has been flawless for almost 10 months. Seems to connect much faster than the D-Link, probably more stable as well.

I'm using a netgear router. Also it's only happened once. If it keeps happening to you, contact philips, your remote may be defective. This only happened after I connected a lutron radiora system. Do you have that also?

No, I don't use RadioRa. I do use some X10 around the house, but, I would not think that it would conflict with the router(s).

The remote should still at least try to reconnect.

Oh well, I'll keep monitoring the behaviour and see if and when it happens and try to correlate the exact conditions.

Thanks!

I assume you have the latest firmware update for both the TSU9600 and any Pronto extenders you are using?

don't most routers have the default broadcast channel set to channel 6? Try changing it to something else like 1 or 3?

It seems to me that if you run a separate network (wireless) you will not have any issues. Check ranges in the areas where the remote is used, prevent switching access point areas of coverage

I'm having the same issue as well. Two remotes in the same house - one has had this problem 3 times in the last week while the other hasn't had the problem. We have multiple D-Link access points. I'm thinking it might have to do with WiFi signal strength?

We have spent a lot of time over the last year or two with the Nevo SL and working with its wi-fi system. UEI (Nevo) produced a series of white papers which suggested certain wi-fi waps as being the most friendly but also had a whole series of recommened wap settings, to make the network work better for the Nevo.

I suspect this same issue may be happening with the Pronto. However, to my knowledge, Philips has not addressed this issue. Maybe check the Pronto TSU9600 FAQ on their site and see if they have posted anything new about wi-fi performance.

I have the same issue on two remotes in the same house. I have 4 Linksys WAP54GX access points, which are listed as being recommended by philips. I will get "command failed" messages randomly (pressing again usually works) and the 9600 seems to loose it's connection quite a bit. I have updated firmware in all devices, and tried them at different wifi channels to no avail. It's very frustrating!

A quick update:

I set static IPs on both panels as well as specifying the extender IPs in the software and it has cleaned up communication quite a bit...
