Hello Guys,
Are the IR transmitters included in the RFX9400 high power blasters, or can they only be used next to the device they are going to control?

There is no IR blaster on the RFX9400.

It uses wired IR Emitters - that is, you can connect up to 4 cables each of which has two IR emitters at the other end. These emitters are stuck over the IR receiver for each piece of equipment. A total of 8 devices can be controlled (even more if you buy some Xantech stuff).

I am going to try the individual blasters from Niles, to see if the RFX9400 has enough milliamp output to drive them. If so, you can just plug in a few of the Niles blasters and cover a whole cabinet with one, possibly two blasters. It is much easier to install and so much neater looking.

Exactly, I can control all my devices from the single Pronto - however sometimes my hands block the signal etc...

Im thinking that if I install an extender and mount it across the room from the equipment and point a blaster at it I have a well positioned never disturbed IR sender.

...I also assumed thats why there were DIP switches on the extender to control the IR power.

Any idea on the power of these outputs? I tried emailing philips but their prontoteam email address appears to be bouncing.
