Was there that many votes to count or is the suspence building intentional? I'm starting to go nuts waiting to hear something.

I am guessing the vote count is instantaneous. But don’t forget there will be a lot more to d, like contact the winners, iron out some details, create the webpages….. that will take some time

That's what I figured but I've noticed that the links to the voting page still work. I would have thought that would be the first to change and since it hasn't... I just hope he hasn't wrenched his back again.

did not know about his back. The links are still there, but I did not bother trying them out. I did not contact or ask him anything, it is just that it tends to happen all the time, CES, CEDIA, Contest, someone submitting a file.... and all of a sudden it is "when will it be added". I am sure there is more then enough work maintaining such a great site.
