I bought one of these devices to control my PS3 using IR (its a usb-powered black box that converts IR to Bluetooth). Model number is PS3IR-PRO from schmartstuff. All of the codes work great with the exception of the 'Discrete Off' code, which I'm told by their tech support should work. They even verified it was the correct hex code and I do have latest firmware on all my equipment.

I eventually got the PS3 to power down using a macro made of 'PS>Down>Down>Down>Up>X>X' but I would still much rather get the Discrete Off code working just for simplicity. Has anyone experimented with this device and have gotten this to work?

Thanks in advance for any help you can throw my way.

I use a similar device (the IR4PS3). Power down button uses a similar macro to the one you have described. I don't think there is a single power down command available from the bluetooth remote, so a macro is the only reliable way to do it.

The Discrete Off code in the PS3IR-PRO does work indeed, and far better than any remote macro. The remote sends just one command, and the PS3IR-PRO does the macro. After a Discrete Off command, the PRO will only respond to the PS (Power On) command.

PS3IR-PRO Discrete Off:

0000 0067 0000 0015 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 01C2

I just tried your code and unfortunately it doesn't work =/

Do you need to set a minimum duration for that code, or is there something else I'm missing? I also tried using a different PS3IR-PRO (since I ordered two at the same time) and neither of them worked, so I'm hoping both of mine aren't faulty!

It just seems funny to me that this is the only code that doesn't work...
Thanks for your help so far!

Make sure you have the PRO last firmware version (if it's new, it should be), I can't think of anything else.

Sony usually use Function number 46 for ON and 47 for OFF.
The PS3IR-PRO Discrete OFF is 46 which is usually ON.

Try this,

Device Code: 26.218 Function: 47
0000 0068 0000 0015 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 01AE

It's a no-go with that one. This is so frustrating!
Thank you for the help, though!

Did you manage to make the 'Off' command to work?
Mine won't work either. I tried all three commands mentioned in this thread with no luck. I am running the latest firmware by the way.

Nope, I couldn't get it to work. I wasn't able to perform the firmware update myself (computer wouldn't recognize it) so I sent it to them to do it. It's on its way back to me now after they tested for functionality. Hopefully it'll work for me now.

I have done the firmware update, but...
Let me know if it works for you and then I might look into re-installing the firmware.
