I've seen a couple of examples of scripts that can retrieve Weather data over WiFi from Weather.Com (for example the one in the downloads section of this site), and I have been pretty successful in leveraging and integrating these into my main Pronto program... but i'm on the hunt for something new...

So is it possible to use HTTP GET scripts to retrieve XML data for TV Guide listings, or Football results, or news headlines, or other goodies?

Yes, I know I may be leaning towards making my Pronto into an RSS reader, but is this so far-fetched. After all, once you have an XML parser you have an XML parser right?

Anyone got any ideas or examples?

RSS is a protocol that mandates an XML format. Therefore, you can look @ XML feed for RSS from ANY website that provides RSS URL. Google will show lots. The XML RSS data is served up using HTTP and is retrieve with HTTP GET.

A forum search here for XML may reveal a few more.

Andre Du Fresne has already provide an RSS Reader XCF available here. There's a whole thread on this configuration.

could you point me to the RSS reader xcf Thread ? i cannot find it and im very interessted into sending php commands with TSU9400
found the "right" search button and the thread

something like wget -O /dev/null "http://192.168.0.100/knxweb/knxwrite.php?obj=schalt_essen1&value=off" .... or
"[Link: 192.168.0.100]"

maybe even to get informations through XML from my EIB/KNX installation (using EIBD and LINKNX and KNXWEB)
