Hi all,
I don't know if it would work but I am considering wiring a IR port from my rfx9600 extender directly to my sky hd satellite box.
I was going to desolder the IR receiver from the main board within the sky box and connect it directly to the extender...(Via some nice connectors)
In theory i think this should work, but I wouldn't mind some advise from people telling me i'm an idiot if I'm wrong ;)
Thanks,
Dan

Well in theory it should not work. It has to do something with modulated and unmodulated IR signals but I don't recall at this moment. Don't mess with the Sky IR receiver. The best thing would be to place an ir emmiter inside the equipment in front of the IR receiver. That would do the job just fine. In any case even if it does work (which most probably will not), you are scrapping the original remote so you have to put ALL the functions on your pronto + having the fear if the pronto RFX breaks down bye bye Sky until you can get it fixed! I hope that answers your question. Demetris

It won't work. An IR Receiver is designed to receive an IR signal, and the ICs behind that convert the IR signal to the proper data format for the gear. You can't feed regular voltage from a control out port to an IR sensor.

Have a look at duskysky. I control 4 HD boxes in a rack using it connected to an RFX9600.

Dan,
All Sky boxes have the ability to be remote controlled from other viewing rooms using one or more SkyEye IR receivers connected to the RF2 output of the Sky box.
So products like the RF2LINK can be used to make a direct wired connection from a RFX9400 or RFX9600 IR output port. It plugs in line with any existing RF2 coax cable and has a convenient cable with a 3.5mm jack plug for connecting to the extender.
This a much less dectructive way of doing what you want!
BTW: Be sure to choose the model with "DC pass through" if SkyEye devices are also being used.
