Hello

Just finished the Pronto Level 1 course, and are working on my first TSU9600 with the RFX9600 extender. :) Seems like a great product so far, but of course it`s still allot to learn for a newbie.

Anyway, the TSU9600 I am working on is supposed to control two rooms (bedroom and livingroom). Both rooms use allot of the same equipment trough a HDMI matrix, so a remote like this is really needed. (I know the best solution would be two TSU9600, but for now only one is planned)

Now, my question is; what is the best way to program this? Could I have a choice on the Home Page to choose the room I am in, and then the button will take me too a new Home Page with the correct activities for that room? Or will it be a better solution to just keep the Home Page as default, and have (many) seperate activities for each room like this: "TV in Livingroom", "TV in Bedroom", "Music in Livingroom" and so on....

Any toughts around this?

Best Regards
TSU9600/RFX9600

That's how i do it, else you get a lot of buttons on the home page.

Same here. On main homepage is the main room activites and hard buttons to go to bedroom and patio activites. Each of the other areas have similar homepages with different background colors to easily distinguish between them. Each area homepage has hard buttons to the other area homepages.

Thanks for the fast reply. :)

That makes sense. I have now made a Home Page with the picture of the bedroom and a picture of the livingroom. Pushing the picture will take you to the second homepage with all the activities for that room.

What a great remote!

The way I do it is in my opinion better. Create a configuration for the living room and a separate one for the bedroom, then create your final one with a room selection and merge it with both configurations. Be sure you name all the activities correctly and adding an activity called "---------------------" without the quotes is a good way to separate the rooms.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip, but why is that method better?

"Better is always" a subjective opinion not an absolute metric.

Depending on your style of programming, starting with separate programs then merging is one way to go, but it seems inconvenient to me.

True, for a professional, there are advantages of having small nuggets that one can copy from project to project, but the merge will create multiple home pages that must eventually be consolidated.

It is a matter of style. I have a general multi-room shell that I customize for each job.

I do suggest that you prefix each device with the room name. Otherwise, editing and trouble shooting macros that might span multiple devices in multiple rooms can be tricky.

It merges just fine if you do as I described.. (It will still link the to the correct pages) and also make sure you upload it to your panel and check for any errors you get. It's better this way in my opinion because it's harder to go wrong. Though your way might be just as good or maybe even better..
