Hi all,

Is there a way to create/edit/read a database in TSU9600?

Example: When my brother comes into the room, enters his name, turns on the radio it would play his favorite songs. If I walked into the room, I key in my name and turn on the radio, it would play my favorite songs? Subsequently, when my dad steps into the room, he types in his name and he can set his favorite songs and get it to play whenever he steps in.

Is the describe scenario possible?

Thanks in advance!!

create a page where each (mom dad brother sister) have there own button, this will then take them to there favorite TV,radio or sky channels.
Pronto still one of the best Wi-Fi Remotes,

What if I don't know the number of people using? IS there a way to create a dynamic way of saving the preferences, like using a microsoft access or SQL?

No real way to do anything like what you are asking. It would require all the potential graphics/logos to be stored in the remote, and then called up and edited on the fly. The software just doesn't have that sort of editing ability built into the remote its self.

The traditional set up for multiple users is exactly what gopronto has already suggested. A user selection screen up front, then edit pages as necessary to accomodate each user.

You can do something like this with ProntoScript including dynamic avatars for users BUT the solution will also require pc programming and an external server (web, XML, TCP, etc) such that user database is maintained there.

ProntoScript would then query this server for list of users, etc...

Once identifying the user, you could then issue requests to get the list of their channels via XML or some other means.

Have you tried using arrays to achieve this goal? Although you can't really declare an array inside a global, you could store preferences inside arrays for specific activities and use the global to store which user is currently active on the Pronto so that each activity array could configure itself appropriately based on the global variables current user.

FYI: Arrays in prontoscript for the most part are one-dimensional although there are a couple of 'cheater' techniques that allow you to create multi-dimensional arrays.

AS far as database like functionality goes: yes you are going to encounter some limitations; however you will be able to search, append to the beginning or end, edit and a number of other functions.
You can hide almost anything until you have to put the drywall up!

to piggiez:

are you planning this for one room or are your relatives using the radio(s) in their own rooms?
If yes: Internetradio with squeezbox and prontosqueeze. Everybody is able to select their own music; last selected music is stored and continuing with next start.
No login necessary.
No programming necessary.
On the display of Pronto selection by room or person or squeezebox number.
