Hi Everyone,

I just got a 9200, and am new to this, so please bear with me.

I have configured the basics pretty easily using the Project Configurator software but have a couple of questions...

1) My first activity is Watch TV. It basically does what I want, powers on TV, jumps to a channel on my Direct TV STB -- all good. So if I have this correct, the remote is in Direct TV "mode", that is to say that all of the buttons (except the volume) are controlling the DTV box.

Question: How would I switch the remote to control the TV (by this I mean get to the TV menus like picture adjust etc.)? Is this possible, or do I have to create an Activity macro for that?

2) When switching channels (DTV) the remote punches in the number as if I would be punching in the number manually.

Question: Is there any way to get it to just go to that channel? What I'm asking for is for it to behave the same way that it does when you press the prev. channel button, where it goes instantly to the channel. On my DTV STB box it does this with the "favorites menu" where it just goes directly to the channel. How would I achieve that?

3) I am now trying to add my Pioneer VSX84TXi but the DB does not seem to have it listed, although it has a bunch of model types cryptically listed as "Codeset ****" . Is there some sort of component model number to codeset match up table that I can review to find my receiver?

Thanks very much in advance,

z

All your answers can be found by selecting HELP in Pronto Configurator.

For the VSX84TXi try other VSX Model Receivers. You can also download the Only One Remote Database from Philips.

Hi Jason,

Thanks. I've read the scant help *prior* to posting and (to me) it did not help. I'm an interface designer/programmer so I'm used to it, but found the help very vague. That's why I posted here.

I've tried the other VSX's that are supplied and none of them seem to have the multiple HDMI inputs that I can I've also tried the One Remote codes but whenever I introduce them into My Database they won't "compile" - I get an error when trying to send to the 9200.

Now, as to my other questions, I know that I can hack my way around, create ghost/hidden screens/buttons (and the like), and address them to achieve my goals.

Really I am looking for the "correct" way to do this if it is exists. Anyone? I would love to complete it this weekend.

Thanks again,

z

I have not programed a TSU9200 yet but I have played with the software a lot.I currently program RU960 (TSU3000) Pronto remotes for a company and I am waiting for them to sell out there RU960 stock then we will move to the TSU9200.
I will try and help you with some suggestions.

First make sure you have the latest SOFTWARE and FIRMWARE loaded.
SOFTWARE
Version: 1.0.21
Release date: 18 April 08
Size: 47MB

FIRMWARE
Version: 2.0.28
Released: 18 April 2008
Size: 1.4 MB

GO TO,
[Link: pronto.philips.com]

YOU WILL HAVE TO LOGIN.

For the Only One Remote Database I have read this in another Forum Post,

Check all delays in the main macro AND be sure to check the individual on/off activity buttons. All delays should be in the form "Delay - .5 sec" not "Delay - sec". I find I don't need the delays so I typically delete all delays.

BOTTOM LINE "Delay - sec" results in download failure (in the first third of the progress bar) so check and delete.

If this does not help I can send you a My Database File with all your VSX84TXi codes.

QUESTION 1

1.To control the TV Functions there are couple of ways to do this.
(A) If you want all the TV Functions to be on your remote set it up as a ACTIVITY (e.g.TV FUCTIONS) you can simply add a JUMP TO (TV FUNCTIONS) to the MORE Screen Function in the WATCH TV Activity and a JUMP TO (WATCH TV) to the MORE Screen Function in the TV FUNCTION Activity so you can go back and forth.

To do this,

(I) You will have to setup TV FUNCTIONS as an ACTIVITY and add the TV to the COMPONENTS IN THE PPROJECT.

(II) In Step 3 of Proton Configurator,DEFINE THE ACTIVITIES IN THE PROJECT select your TV FUNCTION Activity.

(III) Select EDIT ACTIVITY then EDIT ACTIVITY BUTTONS this will take you to the EDIT THE ACTIVTY BUTTON -TV FUNCTIONS Page.

(IV) In the SCREEN FUNCTIONS Window select ADD FUNCTION a window will come up SCREEN FUNCTION NAME type in e.g. PICTURE ADJUST click OK.

(V) Make sure the PICTURE ADJUST in the Screen Functions is selected and in the FUNCTIONS window select e.g.PICTURE ADJUST click green arrow and add it to the MACRO window.Repeat (IV) and (V) for other TV functions you want to add.

(VI) When you have finished select FINISH then FINISH again. This will take you back to ACTIVITIES Page.

(VII) Select WATCH TV and Repeat (III).

(VIII). In the SCREEN FUNCTIONS select ADD FUNCTION a window will come up SCREEN FUNCTION NAME type in e.g. TV FUNCTIONS click OK.

(IX). Select the TV FUNCTIONS in the Screen Functions Window and in the MACRO window select the JUMP TO icon (to the right of Speaker icon or Beep Icon) and select HOME then select TV FUNCTIONS Activity click OK,FINISH and FINISH.

(X) You will have to add a JUMP TO (WATCH TV) to the TV FUNCTIONS "MORE" Button Screen Functions so you can get back to the WATCH TV Activity.

(XI) Save it and Download to your remote and try it.To select the screen Functions select the MORE Button, scroll with the ROTARY WHEEL and select with the CHECK MARK KEY (TICK) Button.

(B) If you don`t need or want all your TV Functions on the remote or you don`t want to Jump back and forth between Activities you can just simply add the TV to the WATCH TV Activity with the COMPONENTS OF THE ACTIVITY.Then add the PICTURE ADJUST etc. Function to the MORE Screen Functions as above.Just make sure when you add the TV to the WATCH TV Activty it does not reassign TV Functions to the Hard Buttons. In the EDIT THE ACTIVTY BUTTON Page you can edit any HARD BUTTON as well.

QUESTION 2

I have a couple of questions for you,

(A) Are you talking about adding CHANNEL ICONS to the FAV Button so they show up on the screen and so you can just select the Channel you want to watch and it goes to that Channel without pressing mutiple Hard Button Digits to get to that Channel?

(B) Or are you talking about having a HARD BUTTON that behaves in the same way your DTV STB Box Favourites Button does?

I JUST EMAILED YOU A DATABASE FILE

Hi Jason,

Thanks a bunch, I received your file and replied.

For onlookers here...

QUESTION 2

Neither. I'm trying to directly access the channels without the 9200 entering each number of the channel one after the other -- in the same way that pressing the Back (or previous channel on other remotes) behaves... it just instantly goes to the channel.

Now I understand that this may be more of a function of the actual STB (or any other unit), in my case it is an older Hughes/Direct TV box. This box has a similar function called Turbo (more or less a small 3x3 grid of channels "favorites" type screen).

If it is that, then would it be just a matter of the finding (or learning?) the discreet(?) direct code to access that Turbo favorites grid? Or is there something else?

Thanks again for your patience,

z

You will have to learn the TURBO Button to your My Database Hughes/Direct TV box Device.
You can do this through Pronto Dashboard and select My Database and select your Hughes/Direct TV box then select COMPONENT FUNCTIONS.
Select the ADD NEW FUNCTION Icon (top left of the Functions window) and type TURBO and then select LEARN and learn the Turbo Function.
Select BACK TO COMPONENT LIST and then select BACK UP MY DATABASE and save.
You can then add the Function to a Hard Button or to the MORE Button Screen Functions.
