Scott,

FYI, I still know I owe you some time/feedback if you still need it. I have to apologize as I have been swamped since the middle of december (day job duties) and have not even done work on my own system.

No worries. Whenever you get the chance would be great. I know what you mean about no time... Besides my regular day job, I create MS Access Databases on the side (custom graphic interfaces and lots of VB programming) and have a busy 2 year old at home... another one due at the end of June.

I have not had much time for my remote either. So it's been very slow replacing some of the graphics I borrowed with new ones I've created. I am learning new tricks in Photoshop every day... see pics below. The actual Photoshop images (600 x 600 at 300 dpi) look much better than the ones below which are compressed (jpg files).

The popcorn kernels are simply generic ones found on the web... may eventually take a stab at creating them from scratch.

Almost everything you need to start using the RFX from another source is in this topic. I stopped posting because of the whining.

The stuff you are doing is way beyond my technical knowledge. I'll have to do some serious research in order to figure this out... but I do like a challenge. Now, I just need to find the time.

Thanks,
Scott

 Scott,

I just noted that in the reply that I send you RTFM was included. Just wanted you to know that's part of the objective c quote (the guy I qouted was saying that about himselve), not of my writing.

Paul,

For relays, power sense, and 232, might be possible. However, for IR data, not likely.

But, if you need IR and know you will have to convert the Pronto IR Code data to some other format, why not just invest in a Global Cache GC-100 12 which gives you serial ports, relays, and 6 IR ports? Plus, with this configuration, you get true asynchronous 232 as the serial ports communication done using TCP/IP.

Learned IR commands are no problem. It's just the database commands that are almost impossible to do based on the encryption.
However I do agree with Lyndel that GC is a much easier way.

sWORDs, that are very good news for me. I use a TSU 9400 + RFX 9600 today but are really not using the 9600 for a lot of equipment. Just IR for input/volume on amp plus on/off projector. All all learned commands.

I mainly use Squeezeboxes for music and MediaPortal on the HTPC:s for TV/Movies/Series, they can all be controlled with tcp/ip.

I plan to move to IPad running CommandFusion for controlling the Squeezeboxes and MediaPortal. I have joined the open source EVE project for development of the MediaPortal module: [Link: forum.team-mediaportal.com]

I'm still hoping that I will be able to use the RFX also with the IPad for the amp and projector. sWORDs could you post an example of how to send a learned IR code with the RFX or send me some more information in PM.

Cheers,

Johan

I pop in every now and then and hopefully one day see that there is an app that is able to utilise the rfx9600 for the Apple/Android.
Thanks

Hello guys!
many times I visited the forum and I joined at last.

But go to the point,
I've tried to find some doc or something which describe exactly protocol of the transfer between Pronto TSUxxxx and RFXxxxx...
Have no idea where I can find it. I belive, that not only me have to move from TSU to eg. iPad. I can do it by myself but need to know the protocol how to use it..
I saw posts of sWORDs - it is realy good work but .. you know.
If possible I need more details.
Thanks!

So let's do something to use RFX with iPad )

The protocol is not public. All communication is via UDP and discovery is done via SSDP.

If your Pronto uses Protected Database codes, you will have no way to decipher them unless you have the key to unlock/decrypt them and to my knowledge, that is not available.

These 2 threads may give you some more info.
