I have my original TSU1000 and am interested in replacing it with the 9400. From what I have read, programming the new 9400 is "doable" if I have reasonable programming chops. I suspect I can manage.

My primary home theater gear is Theta Digital stuff. Does anyone know if codes are readily available for Theta? Alternatively, I presume I can program the codes from the Theta's remotes - is this correct?

Finally - lowest price I can find is ~$550 delivered. Is there better pricing out there? If so, where?

Thanks very much,
Bruce.

Yes. I have a Theta Casablanca III and am doing RS232 control with the RFX9600. Some Theta codes are in the factory database for IR control. You can learn the other codes. The Theta remotes are very limited. I was able to really expand my control over my processor with the TSU9400. If you have a Casablanca you can have my file.

I do have the Casablanca II. I would greatly appreciate your file. It would be really cool to be able to get into the pre-amp via the universal remote...

Thanks very much!

Hi Kevin

I am looking at the TSU9800. Do you know if your codes for the Theta Casablanca III would be compatible with this, as I have one too.

Tks

Ian

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for sharing your configuration file, especially for the RS-232 for Theta Casablanca.
I have try your code, but it seem that my Theta CS3 has no reaction, too bad.

I suspect that this maybe related with the RS-232 wiring on my site, could you share your wire configuration from RFX-9600 to Theta Casablanca 3?

I made a custom cable, straight pin to pin, from pin 1 to 7 and no connection on pin 8 and 9, could this be the problem?

I use TSU-9600 with RFX-9600 to control my devices, everything works on RS-232 and IR control, except Theta Casablanca.

If someone psots the pertinent info from the casablance manual/spec on its wiring needs for RS232 I am sure someone can help.

Okay some one posted it. First of all if you want to understand what is going on go to my web site (see my profile) and pull down the document called Pronto PRO communications.

The Pronto extenders only use three pins. Ground, Transmit and receive.

The Theta document shows that certain pins need to be jumpered (electrically tied together) on its side, so just wiring three wires end to end will not work.

The Theta document states which pins are transmit and which are receive. The rule is that the transmit pin (2 or 3) on side A must go tro the Receive (2 or 3) pin on side B, and the receive pin (2 or 3) on side A must go to the transmit (2 or 3) pin on side B. The ground pin (5) is always wired straight through. THE ABOVE RULE ALWAYS HOLDS!!!
The Theta doc states which pin is Transmit and which is receive on their side. I do not use the RFX units so I am not sure of their pinouts, but I am sure it is documented.
