Hi All. Time to contibute a Module !

I've finally found time over X-mas/NY to learn about javascript, asynchronous coms and object oriented concepts (last time I seriously programmed computers I was writing assembly language for a Commodore 64 !), to cobble together my own module to control C-Bus via C-Gate.

I'm sure I've not observed common/polite coding practice and I'm pretty naff at graphic stuff, but it works fine for my apartment, where I'm using 3 TSU 9400s to connect to one of my servers running C-Gate, which connects to the C-Bus network (hybrid wireless retrofit - simple backbone bridged to 3 wireless networks) via a single C-bus network interface.

I've tried to make it modular so anyone understanding C-bus & C-Gate should be able to mod it relatively easily for their own use, and it should be easy to convert for a TSU9600, etc.

Any comments / advice / improvements are welcome. I'm pretty short on time and heading overseas soon, so I may not reply in a timely manner.

Anyone interested can download at -

I've also included some instructions and the example from my apartment with an excel spreadsheet of my C-bus network in case it helps get your head around configuration

Cheers

Update for 9600 (I've been shopping :-) ) with new graphics.

My apartment config loaded - but should be easy to modify for anyone who understands Clipsal C-Bus & C-Gate.

Hey Rohan

Your module works a treat !!

Have noticed that if i start CGate up for the first time and navigate to lighting page it takes a couple of minutes before it starts to work ?

This is what is displayed in CGate window

Clipsal C-Gate(TM) v2.7.1 (build 2267)
20090422-125055 803 cmd3 - Host:/192.168.16.52 opened command interface from port: 1066
20090422-125056 751 //DEMOBD - Tag information changed at tag address: //DEMOBD/Installation oldtag: null newtag: null
20090422-125056 742 //DEMOBD/254 dabc9040-1720-1029-b555-a57e027d6ad0 Network created type=Serial address=COM3
20090422-125102 827 //DEMOBD/254 dabc9040-1720-1029-b555-a57e027d6ad0 C-Bus Send Error: (#)(retrying)
20090422-125102 827 //DEMOBD/254 dabc9040-1720-1029-b555-a57e027d6ad0 C-Bus Send Error: (#)(retrying)

If i try any buttons immediately after this appears nothing happens, but certainly if i wait a while it all works great.

Any suggestions appreciated - obviously not really a problem as long as CGate has been running a while.

Dean.

Thanks. I was beginning to think I was the only person who would ever use it. Sorry about the complicated instructions.

The Clipsal documentation says that the C-Gate service takes a few minutes to create a model of the network, which it then continues to update. I gather that this is the normal behaviour, and the service is meant to be left running.

You can accelerate it by specific intructions to initiate (which I can't remember off the top of my head), or by starting the Clipsal C-Bus Toolkit and re-scanning the devices in the network.

P.S. You should be able to adjust dimmers with the scroll wheel - either the last dimmer you have used, or select one by clicking on a bargraph. I added that function later but don't remember if I put it in the documentation.

You may see occasional funny behaviour with rounding of dimmer levels as I tried to make them 1-100% but of course C-Bus sees them as 0-255.

I am trying to open your XCF in PEP1 and I get the message:
"You are trying to open a 5.0 configuration file. This file format is not supported by this version of ProntoEdit Professional."

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong here?

I first bought a Pronto the week PEP2 came out so only briefly saw (and never really learned to use) PEP1. Sorry.
