Hello All;

It has been a few years since I have frequented this site. At that time, I had just purchased the Pronto TSU3000 (ProntoNG). I build several configs and used it to control all AV products, X-10 (Pool, Waterfall, Lights..etc.).

Since then I have moved on to full home automation continuing in the DYI theme (ElK, Nuvo Whole House Audio, etc.) I have returned and must say that I am completely confused over what appears to be mesh of Pronto products that appear to cross functionality. As an example, what are the differences between the ProntoPro NG and the Home Theater Control Units. Further, how do these differ from the RC9800i device. And now there is the new Pronto Professional. This device seems like a UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC). Not a slight, but I am facing a buying dilemma and am wondering if there is a matrix of the various Pronto Flavors that highlight the differences.

I did a search on the various forums before submitting this, however, forgive me if this was already addressed.

Nice to see everyone again.

Ed,

Did you also check Philips' Pronto website?
http://www.pronto.philips.com

This site will have all units except the RC9800i which is available here. http://www.homecontrol.philips.com/

I don't know if there's a side by side comparison. The RC9800i is not PC uploadable/downloadable. All the other prontos are. The TSU9600 is wifi-based RF extender capable where the older Pronto remotes (excluding 9800i) used a proprietary RF protocol. The 9600 has a full VGA screen (640x480x64Kcolors) where the older Prontos have a QVGA (quarter VGA) (320x240x16colors or 64Kcolors).

Hey Lyndel;

Thanks much for the feedback.

I'll check out the sites and decide what to do. Unfortunatly, I am under a very severe time crunch heading into a "Parade Of Homes" that will feature the various Home Automation products. I did not anticipate the mass of products that have surfaced.
