Hi all,

I have developed a new Photo Frame app which talks to Flickr and Picasa. So rather than double up on handling and sharing your images around. You can now simply put a url in the Pronto and view your pics, your friends pics or even just view random pics of favourite places!

It also features an analogue clock (oh yes that was fun to build :) and today and tomorrows weather. It will also show you any comments attached to the photos. Both of these features can be turned on/off by simply pressing Firm1 / Firm2 buttons.

Touching the screen will take you back to where you were. I have developed a little icon that can sit up with your Power/Wifi meter so you can start it at any time.

Currently only available for 9600/9800 PEPv2, PEPv1 will be available soon. I'm interested to see if there is any interest from 9400 owners before converting it to that.

You mentioned that you put a url into the Pronto but does that mean you've written a web browser for the 9600/9800?

Umm no you just put the url in the 'Settings Page'.

Basically all you need to do is find the gallery you want to use. Click the RSS icon on that page then copy and paste that link. Simple as that.

It now supports images embedded into the XCF file.

Currently it supports up to 30 but can be expanded to as many as you want with next to no knowledge of ProntoScript required.

PEP v1.0 version also available.

At my TSU9600 it is running. Mega cool; Pictures are comming from the XCF. The clock and the weather report (shortform on the same page) I like very much.

My laptop is goosed, so haven't had a chance to test yet, but I have received the software. I wondered if an on/off toggle for the photos might me an idea? Not sure my dog would appreciate the constant image changes overnight. ;-) Sorry if this is in place already.

I also wondered if a timer could be introduced, which you could then set to only display photos between certain hours, for example 18:00 to 22:00, when you are in to appreciate them?

Yes the timer idea was on my list, but I thought rather than adding a pile of things and delaying the release I thought I would wait for some user feedback before adding more bells and whistles.

As Blang2006 said, to turn it off simply just touch the screen, that will take you back to where you were.

No one will likely write a web browser. The facilities to create dynamic widgets do not exist and are very much required for a robust page. Furthermore, applets and other things such as Flash Players (in use on so many websites) will not run. And the pronto does not support .GIF images to boot (at least 80% of all image content on the web).

Just finished copying 30 images with comments to my XCF. I love it! It works a treat.

The analogue clock is first class, the integrated weather module great. The ability to place a comment against each photo is a nice touch. The looping around after 30 images also works fine here. Is there capacity to handle more images? 30 images has doubled the size of my current XCF from 16Mb to 34Mb. Do you know the maximum size of an XCF?

I'm sure you've probably already thought about it, but could this act as a screensaver (ie kick in when the remote is not being used). I've put a ProntoPic button on my home page, but if the Prontopic application kicked in just before the devices normally switches off, it would be a great addition.

As already mentioned, a timer would also be a great addition. ;-)

On a very minor point. I see you need to press Home to return from the application, and then it times out and switches off the remote. Could a button be used to switch off straight away. Perhaps Firm5 to switch off the remote? That's small beans really.
