New to the forum - appreciate any help...

I currently have a AMX ViewPoint remote controlling a Landmark PLB-CF10 - TVs, projector, DVD player, receiver, TiVo, etc. I do not want to keep spending money to bring in a professional to reprogram my system everytime I want to change a component (ex: upgrade to Blu-ray disc player). I found a ccf file here on the site which has the IR codes, "allowing me to create a complete touch panel and use it as my main interface." Before I go spend a ton of money (thinking TSU9600), is it in fact that easy? Can I use the Pronto to replace my ViewPoint and still be able to control my Landmark system? I have no probleming doing some programming work to the Pronto (would like to customize the screen, buttons, etc), just wondering if it can be done w/o risking the functionality of my home theater and spending money for no reason.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Yes, but it will require additional hardware and programming knownledge. Landmark has an IR input card that accepts Phast IR codes that could be mapped to do the functions of your viewpoint touch panel. The problem is that Landmark has been discontinued by AMX and it will be very hard to find the IR input card, maybe Ebay.

The Limitations:
The Phast remote has 34 keys and 4 modes = 136 total functions. Your viewpoint (1 Way RF) touchpanel has 255 functions and if you have a VPN (2 way viewpoint) you have 4 x 255 = 1024. There is a way to overcome the function limitation number, but you will need to know how to program in Landmark and use variables to address multiple devices. You can find the Phast/Landmark CCF IR codes here:

Summary:
You can do this with any pronto. I have a project with 6 prontos of different modes controlling a Landmark home automation system.
You will need:
1) A Pronto,
2) The Landmark IR input card,
3) IR receiver or Pronto RF extender to receive codes\connected to Landmark IR input card,
4) Programming knowledge on both Pronto and Landmark systems.

Another option: If you are just controlling a home theater with Landmark and all your devices are IR, you can replace Landmark with the Pronto TSU9600 + RFX9400 and control up to 8 devices.

Anyways, any route you take will spend money and time. Bringing back your Landmark programmer may eventually be the cheaper route add your Blue-Ray DVD. I hope this helps.

First of all, thank you SO much for responding.

Let me explain what I currently have so you can get a better idea - any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a Landmark PLB-CF10 w/ the following cards:
MCU card
(5) IR Output cards
Serial card
AXLINK card
PLC-RL card

As mentioned in the inital post, I have a ViewPoint (1-way) controlling a projector, a bunch of TVs, a YAMAHA receiver, a DVD player (on its last legs), VCR, cable and satellite boxes, TiVo, as well as a few lighting controls.

I should also mention I have an AMX AXR-RF receiving the commands from the ViewPoint. I was able to find a version of TPDesign 3 software, but when I connected the controller to the computer to upload the pages, I got an error messaging saying I have an old version of firmware.

Again, what I would ultimately like to do is get a remote that I can program myself when I need to change/add a component w/o having to bring in the pros. I am pretty good when it comes to A/V setups, but I am stuck since I do not have all the necessary software (which as you probably know is impossible to obtain from AMX unless you are an authorized dealer/installer).

If I purchase a Pronto, can I use the AXR-RF receiver since it is already connected to the Landmark, and the CCF IR codes available here to program the system and toss the ViewPoint? Or do I still need additional Landmark/Phast software to complete the setup? If so, anyway I can obtain the software? I would be willing to pay for this.

Again, any help/advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! Thank you again.

Jim,

Unfortunately, the AMX RF operates in a different frequency than the Pronto RF. Your AMX Viewpoint is probably 418Mhz. The TSU9600 uses WIFI RF 802.11g at 2.4Ghz. So, you won't be able to use the TSU9600 with the AMX/Landmark RF receiver. They are different RF technologies.

The only way to use a TSU9600 with Landmark is by adding a Landmark IR input card and an IR receiver connected to the IR input card to receive the IR commands from the TSU9600. You may also use the RFX9400 as the IR receiver, voiding the need for line of site for the remote signal. With a generic IR receiver, you would need to aim the remote to the IR receiver.

At last, even after getting all the parts, you still need knowledge on how to program Landmark to make the whole thing work. Inside Landmark, you will add a Landmark remote control, program the 4 remote modes (34 functions per mode = 136 total) and than map the Landmark IR codes in the TSU9600. You will need to use variables inside Landmark to extend the 136 IR function limitation. To be honest with you, without Landmark and Pronto programming experience this will be a very frustrating and time consuming task for you.

Again if adding the new DVD player will cost you a couple hundred dollars, that may be your best option.
