We sold a demo TSU9600/RFX9600 to someone and now he is saying that the remote works fine while on the dock, but as soon as he picks it up it goes black. He also says that while it is in the dock there is supposed to be a red LED that lights up while charging, but it is not lit (even though the remote is getting power and functioning).

I had this unit sitting on my desk for few weeks and I was leaving it on the dock for a while, pulling it off and leaving it un-charged for a few days, putting it back on the dock for a few days specifically to test the battery before we sold it. It had been unused for a while before this.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I need to point this guy in the right direction.

He likely needs a new battery. You can try to request battery for him from www.servicewidetech.com but he may have to send the unit in. Before sending in the unit, consider that the 5V power supply may be out. If the white lite on the dock is working, then this is not the case and it is the battery.

The remote works perfectly when on the dock, so I don't think it's the power supply. Someone suggested that the battery may not be making contact internally. That would explain why the red 'charging' LED doesn't come on when the remote is on the dock.

Thanks for the link. I've called them already, but I'll check out the site, too.

I've got the identical symptoms. Any do-it-yourself way to obtain/replace the battery?

The only way to possibly get a battery.

Hello,

I have the same problem.

When I put the pronto 9400 into docking station the red LED light (on the docking station) stays on for about 1-2 seconds. It does not seem to be charging and it does not seem to hold a charge. But, in the docking station the power stays on and works fine.

I am assuming that it is the battery. Could someone confirm this? Any suggestion where to get a new battery for the pronto 9400.

THank you in advance for your help.

Lee Fot,

How old is the unit?

This seems like a classic battery failure pattern.

As the battery ages, the energy storage capacity diminishes, requiring more frequent charges. Simultaneously, the battery seems to charge much faster.

On my cellphone I go through this about every two years, almost to the day. (I keep phones for a long time). After a few minutes of operation, the battery appears to be completely discharged, yet it will recharge in a few minutes, rather than about 14 hours. Normally, two hour conference calls are not a problem for this phone.

I have the same problem with my TSU9600. Does anyone know where to send the unit for battery repair in Canada?

It is about 2 years.

I thought that is was the battery... But i read in another post that replacing the battery did not help.

I guess I can try that first...

Thank you...
