For a cable box such as comcast/time warner you should not have to put in anything in 'start' action. Typically you would have the cable box set to wait until it gets 3 digits such as 0 0 8. If not, you may be required to press 'Enter' to complete the sequence such as 8 'Enter'. If this is the case, you would set the end action to the 'Enter' function.

Hope this clears things up. If you are using PEPv1, you can have a look at the help file (F1) and read up on the Channel Macro Wizard.

are you using the start action and end action to enter the codes for the channel numbers?

the channel number gets entered in the space above the start/stop actions, then you can enter a start/stop action if you need it.

and these can be left just saying < select one > if you don't want/need either action.

ie: Channel Number: 8373

Start Action: < select one >

Stop Action: Enter of Dish Pro 943

jhuddleston,

The intent of the "favorites" section is to facilitate quick station selection for a TV, Radio, or Satellite channel. You are expected to enter numbers in the text box.

Some cable TV boxes expect three digits. This will require entering channel 2 as 002. Some satellite boxes use four digits or require an "Enter" command to follow the digits. The "Enter" command belonging to the cable or satellite box would be selected as the "End" command. Note that all applicable commands are listed and finding the correct "Enter" command can require carefully reading through the whole list.

Ok somebody has to have the answer. I have been on the phone with phillips and that was a futile effort. I am sure I am missing a step somewhere. here is my basic setup
HK AVR 7300
BenQ projector
Echo Star DVR
I have configured the macro to turn everything on eith the watch tv icon. and the remote then jumps to favorites as it was programmed to do. When I transmitt the favorite channel to the remote only the bottom line of the Ir transmission indicator blinks the full indication of a transmission does not blink. I have typed the channel number into the box designated for the channel number. It appears to me that I am not linking the DVR to the action. all of my hard buttons work correctly and I can change channels with them. If I put a start action in i.e. the first number of the channel the remote then shows I am transmitting and the number appears on the screen. does any one have any suggestions?

so once you have the favourite list on the screen of the remote, can you manually change the channel bu pressing one of the numeric hard buttons?

and just to check you are using the silver tick key to choose from the favourites list?

I understand your frustration, but please don't take it out on us as we are only trying to help.

In the MyDatabase component for your sat/cable box, what are the names of the functions for 0-9? This likely has something to do with it.

Try this. Search the Philips database and find a cable box. The functions will be named appropriately for this (Channel Macro Wizard likely needs a well-defined name). Then, in your database, name your functions the same as in the Philips database and I would hope that things start working.

If they do not, then you likely may have missed setting your activity to use a specific component from MyDatabase. I must apologize as I'm not familiar with the 9200 editor. I have 9400, 9600, and 9800.

As everyone has instructed. You should need to use Start/End unless the conditions in my first post above apply.

trybekjr,

I haven't done a 9400 in a while. It is very easy to select the wrong enter command on the Exit command drop down.

On some units there is a difference between "Enter," "OK," and "Select" when transmitting channel numbers.

Experiment with different delays. On DirecTV boxes they made a change that broke programs that had been working for years. You may be experiencing a similar issue. In addition to the delays between commands, experiment with longer numeric digit command durations in the database.

I'm not using the start/stop commands. My individual digits work fine and I'm able to change the channel just by starting w/ a digit such as 1, 2, etc... It seems like the receiver is not picking up the command at all. When I did start one of the channels in favorites w/ a start command it did pick it up but the rest of the digits don't respond. I'll try some more w/ delays but I would think that at least the first digit would respond if the delays were off. Could you please elaborate on the DirectTV change! Maybe it's going to point me in the right direction. Also, I'm not the first one to have this problem by looking at the posts. Unfortunately, there's no specific answer in other threads so Please anyone w/ this similar problem let me know if there's a fix for this.
Thanks and any help much appreciated!
