I get the folllowing message when I try to open it.
"You are trying to open a 4.1 configuration file. Some features may not be recognised by ProntoEdit Professional."

I get the same message but I still opened it and yeah I can see it, it would be cooler if they could do this with something a little more involved.

Obviously you have a later version of PEP than the released one. My XCFs have Version = 4. Your XCF has Version = 4.1.
