I am using PEP v2 with my Pronto TSU 9400. I am attempting to use a different background for different activities. I successfully drag a background onto the Activity Properties Page and it shows OK, both on the actual picture of the handset and on the appearance page. However, it doesn't show in either the simulator or on the handset when I download.
I feel that I must be missing something here. Could anyone advise me?
Thanks.

Terry

What is "actual picture of the handset"?

Make sure you are running the latest TSU9400 firmware.

Thanks for your response Lyndel.

I'm using firmware v 5.0.6, the latest, I believe.

The actual picture of the handset to which I refer is the picture of the handset that appears in the centre window when one selects activity properties. It depicts the handset cut in half about the central horizontal axis. When I drag a background graphic to this window, it then appears on the picture of the handset screen there. I can't think of any other way to better describe this.

Is there anyone who can give me an idea how to achieve setting a new background for an activity.

I find it difficult to believe that I am the only person experiencing this problem!

Perhaps I am posting in the wrong section? Any help at all would be appreciated.

Check your system page and remove any panels that might be there. I suspect you have one or more panels that are hiding the Activity background. At this point, I suspect user error or a Version 1 XCF that was designed in such a way that was not anticipated during migration.

I've checked the system page and there are no backgrounds or panels there, apart from the default green background. The system properties page shows a blank screen and background.

As I've already stated, if I add a background to this or any other activity properties page, it immediately appears on both the picture of the screen and on the appearance page but not in the simulator or on the handset when downloaded.

The XCF file is, indeed one prepared in PEP v1 which was automatically exported over to PEP v2 when I opened my project and appears to be unaltered from the original. Indeed, I've already made modifications to buttons successfully.

If you cannot think of anything else then I'll try a completely new file in PEP v2.

Thanks
Terry

Try a new file. If problematic file is not too large, email it to me as I'd like to have a look.

I'm now working on a new file in PEP v2 and it's already obvious that it's working correctly so I'll carry on and finish it.

It seems that there's some incompatibility between the different versions of the editing software.

Email on its way with the original file.

I appreciate that it's pretty basic but I'm quite new to this.

Regards

It is very likely that when the PEPv1 XCF was migrated to PEPv2, the original Panel that was on the System Page was not set all the way to the back (behind all other items) and therefore was not converted to the 'System Background' on System Properties.

The fix is simple:

A. On the System Page, simply save the image from Panel (your intended background) to the hard drive.
B. On the System Page, delete the Panel from which you just save the image.
C. On the System Properties, click the 'Appearance' tab and add the background you saved in Step #A.

Now, if you Download or Simulate, any Activities with custom backgrounds should indeed show the background.

Thanks for your explanation Lyndel.

I've carefully followed the instructions you give and the background does appear on the system page. Unfortunately, any subsequent backgrounds added to activity properties pages still do NOT appear. The only difference now is that, because the original image has been removed in stage B, all the activity backgrounds are white/blank.

However, as I've said, I am successfully continuing with my new file in PEP v2.

Terry,

Please check your mailbox. I've modified the file you sent earlier to have custom backgrounds on Home and TV. I also removed the Panel from your System Page and reloaded image from hard disk into System Properties (Steps A, B, and C).

File simulates just fine showing custom pages.

If it will simulate for you, then please study carefullly the System Properties (Tree View) and the Appearance Tab of the Properties Window (Top-Right). Repeat this process for the individual activities as well.

The images I used were straight from the gallery and are 240x320 images. If you are trying to use images that are smaller, then that is likely the issue.
