I currently have 2 I-pronto remotes & 1 Pronto NG. I was looking to replace my Ipronto remotes because they suck! I was thinking of getting either new Logitech harmony 1000 or Crestron remotes if the reviews suck. I love my ipronto on what i can do with it. The problem is with the wi-fi extender. I have to wait for it to get a connection before it starts working and gives it the sticking button effect. So if i want to pause my TV, it won't pause when i press the button unless the remote is already in ACTIVE communication so usually i would have to turn the volume up or down to start the communication then I can pause when I press the button. That really sucks. So that brings me to my question. I saw the philips is at it again with remotes and saw this TSU9600. I read the installer's brochure and it sounds like a nice remote (so did my Ipronto). I like the fact it has Lutron Radio Ra in it already. That's great. What about this sticking problem. I saw that this communication with wi-fi for Ipronto was frowned upon by many in this forums and how we all asked philips to correct this problem. I want to know if i press a button will it instantly do it and I not have wait 5 secs for it to carry out my command. Does it lock up. WHat is the general TRUE opinion. I would like as many as possible before I even consider buying another Philips remote. Also my Pronto NG works great. Maybe because it uses the RF extender opposed to the Wi-Fi version. Also I would like to know with the RFX 9400, does it have the ability to blast out the signal or do I have to use IR ports and emitters. I noticed on the software you can assign which port it uses for that device. The problem is I have 11 devices in my component closet and my RFX for my Pronto NG. Will my Pronto NG work with new RFX? I doubt it, so let me know that as well.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance!

I have a TSU9600 with and RFX9400.

1. Communication is instantaneous - there is no waiting for a connection.
2. There is no blasting - you have to use stick on emitters. It comes with 2 dual emitters which can control 4 devices. It can take 4 dual emitters for 8 devices. However, I believe you can buy Xantech components to take it beyond 8 devices.
3. Your existing NG is plain RF; the RFX9400 is WiFi - they cannot talk to each other.

so no more button "sticking"? you know where if you press volume button nothing happens then all of the sudden it goes all the way up or down? so you are basically saying the remote is a nice and problem free for the most part?
what about the programming, why is philips saying only a certified programmer can program it. The prontoedit looks like it is not much different than the other two apps (ipronto edit and pronto edit)? Looks pretty much the same to me.
Thanks for your input

That would be correct. No problems at all in this regard.

If you can program any of the remotes in the ProntoNG line (TSU3000/3500/7000/7500) via PENG/PPENG, then you can program the TSU9600. The editor for the TSU9600, PEP might as well be identical to PENG/PPENG aside from the various configuration options you'll need to set via the tabs found under System properties. Some other items of note regarding PEP are listed below.

-Unlike PENG/PPENG there is no longer a device overview page and the NavMode and SmartSurf functions have been removed completely, so you'll need to create your own activity based configuration file or use one of the default files that come with the editor as a starting point.
-There are a couple new hard buttons, the power button and firm 5 button, both programmable.
-The page up and page down buttons are now programmable.
-If you are in the habit of moving buttons and panels around via your keyboards cursor keys make sure that you are working at 100% zoom. Unlike PENG/PPENG, the default zoom level in PEP is 50%, this due to the size of the pages (640x480) we are working with. At 50% zoom however, items move 2 pixel rows at a time per keystroke, not 1 as they do at 100%. Additionally, the align options don't always work properly at 50% zoom. As such, my best suggestion when working with PEP is to go with a desktop no smaller than 1600x1200. This allows for fitting 4 pages in the page view while at 100% zoom. At the same time items will move 1 pixel row at a time per keypress, the align options will work 100% of the time, and your graphics can be viewed without any graphic anamolies as is often the case while at 50% zoom.
