I've had the new Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 for a little over a week now so I thought it was time for some initial impressions. Here's our review complete with photos, screenshots and a little YouTube video too...

In your review, you noted that the Play/Pause/Stop hard buttons are too small.

With regard to size, are you referring to the text size or the image size?

If image size, I presume you are aware that you can edit these items via the System Page. The images that are there currently are actually larger put positioned lower on the screen such that part of them is off the screen.

"I've also find the hard keys directly under the screen for Play, Stop Pause etc are a little too small"

Compared to my previous remote (old timer RU890) the Play and Pause hard keys are small and hard to locate by feel, even with their raised symbols.

Thanks

They are much smaller. There is also no backlighting for these buttons unlike the remotes in the Pronto NG line. I would have liked to see the Firm keys twice the height they are now and with backlighting. I use the firm keys for transport controls as well and find it best to just activate the screen first when needing to access Firm keys 2-4 using the Firm key labels as a guide. I tend to always activate the screen first when going to use Firm key 3 in particular. Firm keys 1 and 5 are on the ends and are the only ones I choose to use by feel alone each and every time without activating the screen first.

Otto,

Thanks for the clarification. I tend to agree that they are smaller. I'm also not used to the convention they use for the Escient Devices

Prev, Pause, Stop, Play, Next

I would have preferred something like

Prev, Stop, Play, Pause, Next

I have mine in this order.

Prev, Next, Play, Stop, Pause

For me this configuration works out best as Firm keys 1,2, and 4,5 are easy for me to work by feel alone. Also, having similar functions grouped together reduces travel time when operating the remote, previous and next in particular. I end up using Pause the most actually. For whatever reason I seem to always be pausing whatever I'm listening to or watching. Having Pause programmed to Firm key 5 works out well for me in this case.
