I'm new to RS232 serial command control. I have successfully setup one device and have been contolling it well via RS233 with my TSU9600 and RFX9600. The device is a Marantz DV9600 DVD player. I downloaded the document from Marantz with the commands. Selected the serial code entry and inserted the exact command listed in the doc, and selected the right RS232 port. An example command that is working is:
@PWR:1\xd, for Power Off
Works great. The next device I was going to try was my NeoPro Borrego Matrix Switch, but the instructions were over my head. I am now trying my Marantz SR8001. I figured it would be easy/clear, since I got it to easily work for my Marantz DVD. The directions aren't as clear, for a newbie like me. It is the same settings (parity, etc) as the DVD player and it is also with a straight cable. For a command it says the:
start character is "@"
command form is "xxx"+"..."
end character is 0Dh
The command that is given for Power Off is:
"PWR:0"
I have tried all kinds of combinations, but I can't get it to work. Using the pattern for the DVD player I used "@PWR:1\0Dh,"
However, I've tried many variations, e.g. without "," or without "\"
Can you give me some guidance, please? Thanks, Marc

Rather than shoot in the dark, could you provide a link to the PDF file you are viewing? Also, you waffle back and forth. Are the commands below for Denon DVD or are they for the switch to which you refer? I think they are for the Denon DVD so I'll provide some guesses below.
Have you tried the following ASCII strings in the Pronto Pro Editor minus the double quotes?
"@PWR:0\r" "@PWR:1\r"
If the command given for Power off does note have the "@" in front, then you should be able to use the same commands as "PWR:0\r" "PWR:1\r"
Note that "\r" in ASCII mode in the Pronto Editor is the CR character which is 0x0d.

I'm sorry for the confusion. The command string elements I list above are for the Marantz receiver SR8001 (no Denons). I have it working for the Marantz DVD. The location of the PDF for serial commands for the receiver is: [Link: us.marantz.com]Marc

I have it working now. I used the same structure that was listed for the DVD player and now it works. At the end of each string I included "\xd,'
Thanks,
Marc

Thanks,
Marc You should be able to switch out the "\xd" with "\r" and everything should work exactly the same.
