Browse backwards.. who cares?

Variables... use descretes.

Give me sensors and stored Macros.

"Browse backwards" is a very useful feature I use
in many of my installations.
I use it for adjustment purposes.

Example:
When watching a DVD, one may
want to adjust the sound parameters
or the picture on their projector.
Simply jump to a page I created with all those
adjustment buttons and when finished adjusting press
the "DONE" button (Browse backwards) to return to the DVD
page. If it wasn't for the "Browse backwards"
function I would have to make seven copies
of this adjustment page for each task, DVD, LD, TV,
PHONO, Radio... etc..

I also made the Hard Home button on the home page
"Browse backwards" so I could return to the
previous screen.
.
.
.
I most definitely could use
more working discreet codes.
.
.
And.. I would like more
selectable hard button backlight options.
Its settings should be independent
from the touchscreen settings.

-Hard Button Backlight Activation:
[ ]None.
[x]Hard Button.
[x]Tilt Sensor.
[x]Touch Screen

-Hard Button Backlight Timeout: 5~240 seconds.
It gets better all the time.

Make Seven Copies> Control C and Control V.

Philips editor makes it easy compared to other editors.

I usually just add those pages to the devices ONLY WHEN ASKED. Other wise I leave it in automated with with Surround codes and Picture modes preset.

They are interested in making money - as well
they should.

A sad state of affairs.

While the emphasis should definitely be placed on making a good living, sharing ways of implementing the new features of this remote with other installers will almost invariably enhance that bottom line. Helping the CI to be more efficient at programming and installing the Pronto 9600 products, and also promoting a higher client satisfaction when something that the client really wants, that the CI does not know about, but the answer can be found here, will enhance the $$$ figure, the stress level of the CI, and the client's overall satisfaction and resultant word-of-mouth advertising.

If CI's do not want to use such a great forum as Remote Central to share advanced programming techniques, tip and tricks, I believe they are figuratively shooting themselves in the foot!

Share your discoveries, and benefit by others' discoveries.

If what you say IS happening in the RTI forum, then I DO believe that the CI's are currently "shooting themselves in the foot" and doing THEMSELVES a disservice in the long run.

IMHO.

Greg, there are some CIs that do good stuff. My point is that if Philips limits distribution to CIs, the forum will lose the hobbyists including folks like Lyndel and Lowpro. Without the contribution of people like them, this forum would be a very different and much less useful place.

Because the hobbyists who make up a large percentage
of the folks who inhabit this forum are unlikely
to buy through CIs, especially if Philips clamps
down on software access a la RTI. The hobbyists
on this forum should take a look at the RTI forum
- a very different place. The innovation you
find here in hardware, power sources, graphics
design, techniques , etc. is almost completely
missing from the RTI forum. CIs are not interested
in innovation that does not come from the mfgr.
They are interested in making money - as well
they should.

We're not interested in innovation, harware, graphics and the like???

That is just a stupid statement...

I give up. Obviously I am not able to make by point with clarity.

Hobbyist? I'd like to think I'm just a step above that. Although I may not be a Dave D'Arche and have remotequest.com, I have thought of opening a business in this area.

I'm not sure where this fits into this discussion, but in the latest Sharper Image catalog, "September 2006" on page 67, there is a "Philips Modea" SRU 9600 pictured and priced at $129.95. Eight device, on-screen set-up guide (no PC required or possible? to get it going). I guess there will be different 9600's???

Believe it or not, the SRU9600 is completely unrelated to the TSU9600!

Ah, good, will be most interesing to read about it after Philips gets away from the "dropping hints" stage.

The new "cheapie" looks good, with reverse EL and "rotary wheel cursor" (whatever that is). Wonder when it will be in stores on the racks? The description says the screen is backlit, doesn't mention the hard buttons being backlit (yes, a big thing for me as mentioned before ;) I'm sure the Pro will have lots of learning memory; I hope this "closer to entry level" remote does as well (planning for when I drop my TSU-7000 and it shatters into a million pieces, can't afford another one).

Just re-watched your high quality video, and indeed, it's the first remote shown!

It looks good! Now I wonder even more what the Pro 9600 looks like. Could you persuade Philips into providing your website with some advance pix???

Don't you think it looks just like (sort of) a RC9800i but programmable. That's sure what the pictures so far look like to me.

I was just about to post the same note, Daniel. I was getting confused with this thread. These are two distinctly different models. One low-cost entry and the other, we suspect will be CI only with limited distribution.

As Springs said, Lyndel could be on my team any day!
