Channel Icons for an additional 36 US TV markets (and also European) as well as a standard gallery update with new buttons, activity icons, backgrounds, and more are now available for download from the www.pronto.philips.com website. Enjoy!

Is there a way to add only the new icons etc to the existing gallery. If not, how do you import it without losing what you have created?

I believe Phillips explained this on their site...you have to rename you current gallery.

Actually it prompts you if you want to merge or replace! Anyone want to try the merge funtion and report if it works? (I would still make a copy of the original gallery)

Another nice feature is if you uninstall the Phillips Pronto Professional Software, it will ask you if you want to save your gallery and database; and also allow you to specify where you want it saved.

I always like to experiment with the install/unistall of software BEFORE modifying :)

I tried the merge and it simply adds the two databases together. I guess the answer to my question is no you cannot add just the new entries to the existing gallery.

I have tried to "import" the new galleries after I unzipped them by "merging" and "replacing" the old gallery.

Fails every time!

What am I doing wrong?

Ted, are you doing this from the File Menu/Import Gallery?

Yes!

I click on File - Box Opens - then I click on Import Gallery....

It then gives me the option to Merge - Replace - Cancel ...

I have tried both merge and replace - it then fails!

I'm sure it something simple I am doing wrong!

It did not fail for me, but my computer did heave up while each of the galleries were being imported. After what seemed like a good bit of time for each I got the gallery imported successfully message and all was well.

Hi,
Had the same problem, but reinstalled PEP and after that no problem with the import.
I had some own things in the old gallery that might have cused the problem.
Try reinstalling, worked for me.

I don't understand what you mean. When you do a merge, it does not wipe out anything you added.

Peter...........You are correct, it does not wipe out what is there. My point is that you will have two of everything that is merged from the "new" gallery if that same object is already in the "old" gallery.

I was a little dissapointed as all I see are the 8 local station buttons. I can understand that this would be very low priority for the Pronto team. What would have been nice was a button that emulates the size/shape of the TV button so that we can select that button and modity it's label. The only thing close is the standard button, "New", which is more round than square. Also a little bug. If you right click on a field, select "properties", then select "Gallery", you will not have acces to the TV buttons. You have to use the toolbars "Open Gallery".

Help with gallery management:

If you are trying to update your gallery files with the new versions from the website, the following may help.

If you only have the standard gallery in your computer at this time, you only need to download and save the new gallery update. Then open PEP and import the new gallery using the import gallery function under the file tab. When asked to choose merge or replace, select replace.
If you have previously added custom graphics to your gallery, perform the following steps:
In order to keep your custom additions and not duplicate any factory supplied graphics, the first step would be to delete anything from the gallery that is not your custom graphics (all of the stnadard graphic elements). Highlight the desired gallery category and use the delete function on the pc. There is not a way at this time to select multiple categories.
The second step would be to export your gallery (using the export function in the file menu) that you have just modified and save it with a unique name that you will be able to find later.
The third step would be to import the NEW factory gallery that you have downloaded and saved (select replace at this time)

You can now merge additional Galleries to the your new Factory Gallery including your custom Gallery that you exported and saved or any additional Galleries you may have (including the new channel icons gallery that has just been added) by using the import gallery function and choosing merge.
