Thought id let you all know that I have had great success controlling my HTPC (MCE) via RS232 through the RFX9600 using LL3 KeyAT-4. You can send all keystrokes to their device which converts them to keyboard scan codes. It attaches to the RFX9600 serial port and then has a cable which attaches to the keyboard input on the PC. It works absolutely flawlessly, no more IR dongles and poor response times.

Peferct. Exactly what I need. Is there a cheaper solution out there? $110 is steep. Any other place to buy this besides direct or a competitive product? Thanks.

Thanks. I googled Serialkeys and came up with a HOW TO SET UP, however I didnt see any equipment that appears to be required. Did I miss something?

I have W7, will it work with that? Or only XP?

Don't believe SerialKeys is available for Win7. No other equipment besides RFX9600 and COM port on PC would have been required.

Why not direct ip control instead of serial. I think there is a MCE server application in the file section that can be used, I have not tried it myself. Alternatives are girder/eventghost, I use Girder for HTPC control.

I installing eventghost now. I dont see serial files for MCE in URC's data base, only IR. Is there a thread somewhere that has instructions on how to make eventghost work with an MSC-400 and an MCE HTPC? I know there is a way to make it work as I read it somewhere. Will keep looking for directions. If I find them, I will post it. In the meantime, if anyone knows,,,,,,,

Thanks!

Are you sure you are in the correct forum? This is Philips Pro Forum, not URC forum.

My bad Lyndel. Didnt realize my error. However, it does fit in HTPC serial control.

Anyhoot, EVENGHOST is a god send! I know have 100% serial control of ANY pc via remote. Not difficult at all to set up. Im sure it would work for pronto as well if Pronto has the ability which I suspect it does.
