Hi All,

There is another Slim Server module about to arrive.. I've been working on this since Christmas time where it was insanely hot over here.. I've posted some video on

In Australia it will be available through Authorised Pronto Installers/Resellers.

Wow.

Love the effects. The fade-ins and outs are great.

Very impressive demo.

Just to answer some FAQ's...

Yes you can buy it off me directly if your outside Australia.

Yes it is available now.

Yes it works with 6.5.4 and 7.0.

Yes it works with a NAS with SlimServer installed. It actually has had some testing with this. I created what is nick named 'fake time'. Due to the lack of CPU oomph in most NAS trying to query it often the NAS didn't behave very well and got substantially worse (music breakup/slow response) the more prontos/squeezes you have. So to get around stressing the server you can set the request time out to > 2 seconds when doing this it starts to use the listen command (should a track change occur), and uses a timer to 'fake time'. Then resyncs it every time cycle to make sure it's accutate.

No there is currently no demo version but I'm considering it. Depending on the level of demand.

Yes for a limited time I'm offering try b4 you buy (conditions apply)

Yes I will consider licensing to other regions.

Big thank you to all those who have emailed me with their support!

I had the opportunity to try this module and it simply works, it's very user friendly, nice graphics, fast response and nice features. The search engine is the best!!!!

Tenchi GREAT JOB!

I have also tested this on both 9400 and 9600 with great pleasure, works faster than the supplied Escient module in terms of action/response and as fast as (or faster) than the iMerge module. And compared to those, much more funcionality and is fast to get used to if you have used the squeezebox system before.

Great job!!!

I tried the module for 5 minutes and then parted with my cash. It’s well made and just simply works. Easy to set up and looks great.

Now everybody wants a Pronto.

Thanks

Just letting you know the demo version is available now for the 9400/9600.

Please be aware it is a 'limited' demo so you will find it is not as feature rich as the full version but it will give you an idea of the product and that it works with your configuration. If you would like a copy please let me know which remote you have (9400/9600).

PS darbyweb I didn't seem to get your message :(

Also keep an eye on http://www.prontoprojects.com hope to update it soon!

Ok,

If you have PM'd me you should have received PM back or an email containing a demo version for the 9400 and 9600. If you have not received either please click on my profile link and please email me.

Tenchi,

Maybe you could pick another name?

SlimPronto vs Slim/Pronto is just too close IMO.

Barry renamed his to SlimPronto following EscientPronto's lead.

Personally, I just would not want folks who might want to purchase/use getting confused between your's and Barry's interface, especially with questions in this forum.

Lyndel it was only called Slim/Pronto so people knew what it was for and at the time I didn't have a name. However in the past week it's been given the name ProntoSqueeze which I've now put in the thread name to hopefully keep all parties happy.

ProntoSqueeze. I LIKE IT! After all, all those Pronto widows out there know that we all have a main squeeze. It's our Pronto remote!

Can you tell us, what kind of projects will arrive the next months?

I'm searching for an UPnP-Solution like ProntoSqueeze. Is there any chance, that you will develope such a tool?

Best regards
Winni

I would love to say there is something really cool on the horizon, but at this stage there isn't. The ProntoSqueeze module has taken 3 months to write pretty much taking up all my spare time.

I hope to get back to some Denon modules I started which comunicate to the amp using the Ethernet port vs serial.

Also interested in looking at creating a SlimServer using the new ASUS PX20 which is a low power (18W on CPU and 5W on idle) very small (2 Litres). They are quite cheap (AU$550) and very quiet too (25dB) and it even has a built in speaker!
