Hi everybody.

I wonder if the US model of the TSU-9600 will work in Europe or will have the same limitation of the TSU7000/RU980 for the RF extender?

And, will this remote be called the same in Europe or will it have a different model name?

Thanks.

It's the one model world-wide. It uses WiFi not plain RF, so the frequency is not an issue. The power adapter that comes with it handles both 110V and 220V.

Philips claim that only the Escient E2 series is compatible with the new TSU9600. Since the E2 series is not available in Europe will the TSU9600 be compatible with the Escient SE-160i which is the only Escient server available in Europe.

Why? Because the US version is likely alot cheaper than the UK version.

Yep, it costs a lot more to make a British power plug than a U.S. one - more metal required.

Not really, sure the tax is cheaper - but import and customs will soon sort that out when the shipment hits the UK.

In fact, my UK pronto was CHEAPER (even after 17.5% tax) than the US price by about $200.

No-one ever replied to your question Bzam!

My SE 160i arrived last night and works with the TSU9600 using the supplied (non-editable) Music Server pages.

A couple of things I have noticed though;

1. I have a very large collection of music and it takes a long time for the TSU9600 to build the song list and it normally stops half way through and refuses to load any more. Don't know if this is a memory issue or the code behind the pages (which are locked in the aditor so I can't check). This may be bacause I was loading songs onto the SE 160i in the background causing a problem with multiple connections?
2. The custom pages on the TSU9600 for the Escient Server are non-editable so I guess if you need to add functionality you have to build a page from scratch. For instance - there is no way to 'Add to PLaying Now' from the supplied pages on the TSU9600. This is a feature I really need so I guess I am going to have to find a way to code it!

Other than that, it works straight out of the box!

Hope this helps

Does this mean that WiFi can handle RF 433MHz signals ?

If not, is there an other way for the TSU9600 to operate on RF 433Mhz ?

WiFi and RF are completely different. The 9600 does NOT do RF.
