Thanks, Lyndel. Here is the quote from the updated FAQ:

"10. How to configure the Wireless Timeout setting?

In the Wireless Settings of the configuration, a check box is used to enable the WiFi capabilities of the TSU9600. Checked will enable the WiFi for a timeout to be set by the Set Wireless Timeout drop down list.
Here you can choose a value between 15 minutes and 24 hours. The Wireless Timeout is really the time that the wireless connection will be maintained after the device went to sleep.
Setting it to the maximum value of 24 hours will set the WiFi to always on."

FYI, even a 24 hour setting may not be maintained if your router is set to renew the DHCP clients in a time less than 24 hours. On my Linksys router, this is 23:59 (23 hours, 59 minutes).

I continued to have serious problems maintaining a wifi connection despite everything I tried with my existing dlink access point. I was beginning to see the message "command failed" in my sleep. I replaced my access point with a Linksys WAP54GX access point. Now it works great. I have had no connection problems in the 5-6 days since I installed it. It looks like this remote is going to work out well.

Thanks,
Marc

I've never had all that great of luck with DLink. In fact, I just recently pulled a DLink gaming adapter out because it could not be configured as the Indian Support Team indicated it could. Back to a Linksys WAP and all is fine.

Wierd stuff, you guys!

Calling on my experience with the Nevo SL and their "occasional" wi-fi problems, the Nevo team devised a WAP settings white paper, which described how to optimize the wi-fi settings for a low powered CE device, which is what the Nevo is.

To the Pronto Team: Any chance the TSU9600 needs some optimized settings for the wi-fi WAP?

Thx Dave

I have always had problems with Dlink.

Know the interface for Linksys backwards and blindfolded so its what I use on installs. Makes trouble shooting a lot faster if you can either... 1 see it in your head or... 2 remote access it.

As for the routers themselves. I have been through lots of stuff trying to get singals around a house... best results have always been mulitple access points hard wired to the router. If I HAD TO I could sometimes get the WRE54G to play nice but it only works consistnaly... welll inconsistantly with the WRT54G and WAP54G.

Anyways as I read the comment from Lydel I was thinking that that the WRE54G might have been a good answer for him rather then the antenna, But all seems to be well on his end.

I will admit thou I have not really jumped in with the 9600s due to the number of things that are still... kind of inprogress.

I need Sonos control and I don't want to go through purple. Philips specifically listed Sonos as someone they were going to integrate with and just hasn't happened.

I will once again booo the lack of DVD integration with the Fireball management and will really have to stay sidelined untill they get that working. I have never been a fan of Esceints but dealers I work with bought in so I have to integrate them. But not having the DVD side working... well its not so cool for the end user.

I have been checking up on the forum to see issues with WiFI but I am pretty comfortable working with networking so I really should mess with the system. I am just burried with NG Pros that I have to get done in time for the SUPER BOWL.
