I would say the URC MX-980 is a very good remote at just under $600. It's definately one of my best selling remotes..

You can learn the programming software if you devote some time to it. I am a direct dealer so I can take advantage of trainings, support and my client rep when a new product or technology comes out. You will need to make sure that you receive the software when you purchase a remote then you can hack around with it. Besides sales and installation I do a heavy acmount of programing for clients who are installers and consumers who don't have the bandwidth, time or resources to devote to not only learning the sofware programing priinciples but perfecting it over time.

Just a point, this is not a touchscreen product.
Be sure to ask for the software from the dealer (assuming you are a DIY), otherwise you'll have a remote control working as a doorstop.
