Looked at a remote for my brothers friend. It's an Elan HR2, which I've only seen one or two of before. The system was still up, since they could control things with their phones still, but the HR2 seemed to be stuck in a sort of boot loop.

The message says:

Could not open
'loader_b.bin'
ERROR:
No code file to execute

It flashes this once a minute, and that's all it does. Can't get past that.

I checked the voltage for the power supply to the charging base, which was good (16v, which is what the wall wart said it should be), and got 5v at the pins that the remote rests on, which I would assume is normal since that's USB voltage and it has a USB plug (yeah, a rather large assumption there...). I don't think it's a power issue, but seems like some sort of corrupt file.

Tried the button press combo to get into the setup menu, but that didn't do anything.

Anyone familiar with these? I don't feel I know them well enough to declare it toasted.

EDIT - Also, is the HR200 the same thing? As in, can it replace this unit in the system without any other changes? Thanks

You probably have some sort of answer by now, but Fins is the only Elan guy I know on here.

I'm an Elan guy. I know this is stale, but for anyone in the future:

Plug into computer using normal USB connection procedure. See if it will connect. If it does then open the root file and delete everything. Then, do the "Configure this HHR" process again in configurator, should be good.

If it doesn't, it's dead. Contact your sales rep, act indignant, and try to negotiate a deal on a new one. They also have some sort of repair process where they reflash the remote. I don't remember why I didn't do that the last time it happened, it may have been prohibitively expensive or it might have taken too long.

Good luck!
