I have a Pioneer PD-F906 File Type CD Player, holds 100 CDs. The remote will not control the player. Fresh batteries in the remote did nothing. I can operate the player manually using the buttons on the front. I'm leaning toward a dead remote. Any thoughts on that?
If I need a new remote where can I get the proper remote for this equipment? I understand the original may no longer be available.
Any help greatly appreciated!!!

At this point it is hard to know if the problem is inthe remote or in the CD Changer. You can check if the remote is sending an IR signal by using a digital camera viewfinder (e.g. cell phone). When you press a remote button, the IR signal can be seen in the viewfinder. If you can't see a flash from the remote, it is probably defective.

Pioneer Changers use the same codes as CD players. Lots of universal remotes operate the changer. Remote made by UEI (Comcast, Atlas remotes used by other cable companies, OneForAll, some Radio Shack, etc. ) use setup code Audio 1023.

It's possible to modify UEI remotes to send any non-standard functions.

Make sure there's nothing plugged into the IR in jack on the back, when there is it disables the iR sensor on the front.

Thanks for posting the link above djy as I was able to find the order # on the old chewed up remote I retrieved from my dog and was able to buy a new remote for my Pioneer DVD player. Muaah!
