Assuming you're using TV 0178
Press TV
Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 994
Press Setup
Enter 00164
Press Select/OK.

Should get 2 blinks

Try using 00069 instead of 00164.

Could I get the code to use for the Sceptre TV? I need the code to get the OK button on the comcast remote to send the same code that the Sceptre remote sends when the Enter key is pressed. Currently, with the comcast remote programmed with the Sony TV code 10000, I can bring up the tv source menu but can not send Enter after selecting my choice.

Thank you for any help!

You can find this code by using the Lookup Tool.  Use the Search Options choice "by Setup Code", use type TV and setup code 0000.  Click Search, and on the new page click the EFC's column.

Note that the leading 1 in setup code 10000 signifies that this is a TV code.  A leading 0 implies cable,  2 is Video and 3 is Audio.

Thank you for the help! The code you gave didn't work so I followed your instructions and looked up the code listed for the Enter key which is what it is labeled on the TV remote. I tried the first one and, son-of-a-gun, it works!

For anyone else who needs it, this is how I got my comcast gray remote with the red OK button to be able to enter the input source on the Sceptre TV set:

Press TV
Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 994 (this is the code for the OK button on the Comcast remote)
Press Setup
Enter 00140 (this is the code that the Sceptre TV remote sends for the Enter button)
Press Select/OK.

To use the remote to select the input source, you need to push the TV button at the top to enter TV mode, then push the button under the number 7 labelled "Input" and "TV/VCR". Now you can pick the input source using the up and down arrow keys and, finally, select that input using the red OK button which now sends the code expected by the Sceptre TV.

No one at either Comcast or Sceptre was able to provide this critical piece of information - they each kept pointing at the other.

I'm sorry to, again, resurrect this thread, but I've spent a few hours trying to put the pieces together here. I simply cannot do this on my own.

So I have this TV: JVC HD61FN97, and I have a gray Comcast remote with a red button.

I'm trying to turn off the closed captioning on this TV, but I cannot manage to emulate a CC button or get the OK button to work. I'm at the point where the OK button actually registers on the remote even when its on TV, but it still doesn't actually select the CC settings change I need to turn the CC off.

Basically, I need to figure out the correct codes. All the codes I can find either do not work or do not list an EFC for an OK button, but it obviously has an OK button, as that is the only button that will allow me to select the setting to turn CC off.

Any idea?

This has become a little more complicated for Comcast remotes because the description "grey with a red OK/Select button" now can describe two remotes with different setup codes and different overall capability.  You can find out which you have by using the 983 Command to blink back the remote's signature.  The older remotes have signature 3039 and the newer ones are 25562.
In the following I'll assume you have the 3039 remote and are using setup code 10053 or 11253. The EFC for CC is probably 00054, although it could also be 00190 or 00181. OK is probably 00007 or perhaps 00055. 00007 may also act as the Menu button.

The manual seems to suggest that one may place the TV into CC mode, in which the captions are only displayed when the sound is muted. However, the manual seems to imply that the OK button is not used in selecting this option.

If you using a different setup code, we'll need to know what it is.

Thank you so much for the help! Honestly, though I had tried 55, I wasn't doing it with all three zeroes before it. *smacks forehead* Now it works fine! I turned off the blasted CC!

Thanks a million!

Maybe I'm in the wrong thread but got here by way of Google and it's the closest I've found to an answer for my issue. I have a UR5U-8780L-TWC remote and an Element ELEFW504 tv. I have to use the select key to CHOOSE the input while using channel keys to navigate the Video Source menu. (Already finally got the channel keys to work in tv mode) So I'm trying to figure out how to get the select key to work in tv mode now. Checked the link in the previous forum post and was unable to find my specific remote. That makes me think I may be posting in the wrong place but really hope someone will be nice enough to help me out.

The collected knowledge of this site couldn't get it to work, as seen by this thread:
