Hi all!

First time here!

I am trying to operate my cable/satelite box "Edision Argus Miniplus HighSpeed 2 in 1" via my ONKYO TX-SR507 remote control.

I tried the code "01631" that I found on web, but it didn't work.

I found on this website that my rc supports only 3 codesets. What does that mean?
I would like to note that I operate my TV plus my DVD via ONKYO r/c. Have I reached the 3 codesets or not?

Sorry for dummy question, but I am totally unfamilliar with this area!

Any syggestion would be appreciated or where I should start reading...

Thanks

Hello,

I've found copies of the Onkyo instructions and codes here...

[Link: uk.onkyo.com]

[Link: uk.onkyo.com]

and the web page (in German) for the Edision Argus Miniplus HighSpeed 2 in 1 here...

I'm not sure where you found your information, but from what I can see the Onkyo remote can support up to 10 devices, and code number 01631 doesn't appear to exist, or at least I've not found it.

Unfortunately as Edision isn't listed in the codes I can't offer any advice as to which code to use; I fear it may be a question of trying them all. Perhaps the SAT/PVR list may be the best place to start.

Hifi-remote.com list two IR protocols for Edison.  The 1600 CI uses NEC1 1.253  (which is the 01631 setup code) and Argus Satellite uses NEC1 2.253.
NEC1 1.253 is unusual, and is in very few remotes.

Since yours has Argus in the name, perhaps it uses the NEC1 2.253 IR protocol.  However, from what I see, although your remote has setup code 11523, which sends 2.253, none of the buttons are programmed with function numbers that would match the Argus.  So I doubt there is any way to use the Onkyo remote with your Satellite box.

If you can find a Remote made by UEI  (e.g. OneForAll) we may be able to manually program it to send the correct signals.

Would it be appropriate ?

Not sure if it's relevant, but it's Edision not Edison - hence the confusion over the 01631 code?

Well, there are some uncertainties.  First, we don't know 100% which IR protocol your STB uses. I don't know for sure about the remote you linked, which has motion control built in, but its sibling remote can handle both 1.253 and 2.253.  It has the Cable 1631 and TV 1523 codes built in. If your STB uses 2.253, we'll need to use the 994 command (shown in the Extended Instructions) to manually assign the functions, since this setup code is intended for a TV instead of a STB.
But assuming that your STB uses one of the two above IR protocols, we'll be able to make it work.

Your Onkyo Receiver can use any of Audio 1320, 1805, or 1993.
