Hi all,

I've been using my Pront RC990 for a number of years now with no real problems in learning or reproducing IR codes for my equipment.

However, I've recently purchased a remote control roller blind system from Amazon, which sourced the product from www.y2shop.com based (clearly!) in China.

Even though PPENG says it succesfully learns the Up and Down codes for the supplied remote, it cannot reproduce them when downloaded to the Pronto. Nothing happens - not even a flash from the red LED on the motor (which is what happens when it receives a signal from the supplied remote).

I've tried pasting the codes into RC5toHEX but even when a new code is generated (albeit without changing any of the settings) there is still no joy when downloaded to the Pronto.

Can anyone make any suggestions or offer any advice to get these codes working? There is no useful information on the remote, just a model no of HT-100.

I thought I'd post up the codes I've obtained through the Pronto from the original remote, someone out there may be able to decode/validate them etc:

This is the F12 IR protocol, which has an unusual format. The up and down signals you're learned are intended to be continuous signals-- the curtain will keep moving as long as you hold the button. We know this because the 4th bit in the signal is a 1. The form of the continuous signal should be: (12 bits of data, 34 mSec of delay, the same 12 bits of data, 88mSec of delay) repeated for as long as you hold the button. It appears that your learns for the held down button have the correct form, so it is a bit of a mystery why the learns don't work.

Recently there have been two similar cases discussed at hifi-remote.com. Seemingly, the solution was to change the the timing of the IR signal very slightly. I'll read through those again, and see if there are some variations for you to try.

Thanks for the replies!

I've pasted each of your codes into PPENG, but I've noticed that as soon as I switch to a different button to do the next one, when I go back, PPENG has changed the codes!

This is what PPENG seems to 'translate' each of your codes into:

OPEN

Why does this happen? Does PPENG somehow validate or parse the codes to a particular format?

Regardless, I've tried using the 'Test IR' button immediatley after pasting (while I can still see your code in the window), and saving each button (so that PPENG changes it to the above) and downloading it to the Pronto - still, none of the codes work!

Most remotes read in the raw timing data and classify burst pairs. So even though the exact duration of the on/off pulses may vary by 10% or so, the durations are all set to a single value. In the case of PPENG, I suspect that it also recognizes the code as F12, and tries to "clean up" the timings. But the primary change that it made to the Pronto Hex that I posted was in the delay between repeated signals, and that shouldn't have kept the blinds from responding, at least briefly. So let's assume that we need something different. Let's try the exact F12 specification, as close as can be described by Pronto Hex:
Open Device Code: 0.1 Function: 8

Oh my god...

THEY WORK!

Seriously, thanks for this, was contemplating botching together some kind of Velleman IR kit to try and get it to work.

Don't have to now, those codes work great!!!!!
