I am new to the pda scene but I see references to pronto ccfs used in these devices. Do these directly transfer with operating codes and macros?
Are they programmable with Pronto and TSS software?
Do the other programs (nevo, proxis etc.) allow very similar programming to these two?
I have a Marantz and that is by reference point.
I am also very interested in the wifi use for music servers.
Where else can I get good newbie info on all this?

Thanks

a PDA cannot use a CCF directly. What you need is a program (several out there) that turn a PDA into a Prontoemulator )or equivalent Marantz remote). They can use any CCF (I think) but for the codes to work they need to be learnt codes and not database codes

Would these be names like Net Remote, PDAwin, Total Remote?

Is there someplace I can go to read up on what the beginners need to know about this PDA stuff? An overview more than step by step at this point would be very helpful.

Two of the best softwares is Total Remote and NetRemote and they can use the CCF files with "learnt codes". But it is easy to learn or you can search here on Remote Central for the codes and use them in your CCF.

The CCF is easy to edit with ProntoEdit or Tonto.

For NetRemote, you can try these two sites:

[Link: promixis.com]

For Tonto (better than ProntoEdit) see this page:

I think you can find the information you need on these pages and if you search in this forum on Remote Central :)
