Hi all,
Just thought I would share some experience.

While waiting for my hx4700 to be delivered I looked around for some remote software for it. OK maybe it’s an expensive remote control, but not while its £400 here in the UK, and the Colour Pronto is £600! The Ipaq is much smaller and better looking!

I thought Total Remote looked great, but after reading through this forum I got more depressed at the problems people were having with it, but I downloaded the demo to try even though its not on the compatible list.

Although the hx4700 does not have a CIR it works great! Due to room size the furthest away I can get is 10 feet, but it works my NAD DVD player, Denon 1604 amp, Trilogy switcher and Epson TW10 projector as well as my IR room lights, and the best part, it works even when bouncing of the walls! Counting the bounce we are talking about 20 feet from the Ipaq’s own IR transmitter/ I'm very pleased and will be buying it.

I'm disappointed with the supplied device skins, the layout on all of them seems illogical to me and I feel there are two few buttons on each screen. I was also disappointed to see the alternative skin still uses the same button mask. Anyway I'm looking forward to designing my own device skins from scratch; hopefully buy that time there will be somewhere to swap them!

Hi there,

Am currently waiting delivery of my hx4700 and was wondering if you have any issues running the remote software seeing as the IR port is on the bottom of the unit?

I was hoping to use the pda for a remote but had just assumed it wouldnt be feasible with the IR placement on it.
